Thread: Good news and bad news regarding armor and HAM

This is more of publish 7 changes, but I figured it might get lost in my other post so here we go.

First the good news. The other day the HAM on most combat droids was increased significantly. R-units have 1600 HAM, adv. R-units have 1800 HAM, DZ70's have 900HAM, LE's have 2600, and adv.LE's have 2800 (note: these values are effected by experimentation, and are the values I've been getting with approx. 50% effectiveness, which is about 100 over base HAM for each of them). For some reason the probot has been left out of the increase (its in their bug thread), but aside from that the HAM values on all of the droids is looking good. It is nice to actually be able to use the LE repair in combat with a personality chip, pretty entertaining. No one has talked about it on here because it seemed to good to be true and there was no sense in reporting something that would most likely be changed with the next patch.

Now for the bad news... it seems the increased HAM has come at a cost. As many of you have heard the droid armor on TC has been borked lately. Everything is capping out at 40% AR0 armor. We've assumed this is a bug, as it means that level 3 and level 6 armor are identical. Today I (as well as razlin) noticed (and it may have been changed a while ago and no one noticed) that the first time you get the droid from the deed, the armor came out as a lower resistance. I think one level 3 was something like 12% resistance, and two level 3's was something like 20% resistance. After storing the droids and calling them back out all of them went to 40% resists and AR0 (which is why it took me a while to notice). Seems their nerf is bugged... Furthermore, the armor integrity rating has been removed (there's an armor module rating, can't remember if thats been there all along or not though). This leads me to believe that the armor has been nerfed, in place of higher ham.

My opinion on this is that I'd rather have the armor over the HAM anyday. Its much easier to heal a low-ham high armor droid and the armor gives it a higher effective HAM than the increased HAM does (unless they fix probots so they have higher HAM than the LE).

I agree 100%. The BE pets are allowed 2 special attacks and can double for a mount. Our best combat droids are going to require every slot to be taken up with combat modules, leaving no room for utility.

If they do this, I am afraid I have to quit the game. 8 months to wait for some attention and they hit us upside the head again with a huge nerf.

I don't even know what to say. Having armor is one of the few things that made droids unique. I feel like increasing HAM and taking all the armor awaydoesn't have an equalizing effect. As a wookiee, I know this intimately.

This is another nail in the coffin, and I can't imagine that it wasn't intended. It can't be coincidence that the armor was taken away atthe same time the HAM was increased.

*sigh*

I really don't want to keep whining, but this is aggravating. Now I am just getting tired of it.

well Devs didnt say anything on lowering the armor raiting lets hope its a bug we hopefully will get some answers tomorrow. If that is a nerf the DE profession got killed before we could see the new droids in action.

Jended you were wondering why would we need stim Ds for pets when they have ham less than 0 and they dont get that much damage with medium armor well looks like we know bigger ham no armor looks like its time to take out Ds to heal our droids.

Hell yeah...armor is essential...I would take armor anyday over these meager HAM increases.

By the way, does it bother anyone else that R-units have more ham than both the droids DESIGNED for combat (probot and dz-70)... *sigh* Devs couldn't get it right if they tried...

I hope the armor thing is a bug.

One possibility is that occurs to me is this: maybe they are planning to have a max armor rating that varies depending upon the type of the droid, but are still working out the code for this. If that is the case, then maybethe droids that have seen the boost in HAM are the ones that will have lousy max armor ratings, but the probot hasn't seen a boost in HAM because once the armor coding is finishedits armor is going to be good again.

One can hope anyway.

I would like to see that as well, but from what the changes look like so far it seems this isn't their intention (doesn't mean we can't try for it, but its not what they're looking at right now).

No offense Jenden, because you know that I appriciate your work - but since you seem to know Drashk on TC can you please ask him to get his butt out here please and help us sort though some of this?

He hasn't posted since last week regarding these issues, and you and a couple of others have mentioned he was "looking in" to the armor issue. Well, I'm not sure how much progress he has on that, but I'm sorry - I want to hear from Drashk about "their intention(s)" and what "they're looking at".

Your assumptions are valuable, but I can't help wanting to hear it from who we are supposed to hear it from. If you are speaking for him (i.e. he has given you this information to post instead of doing it himself),we have another issue entirely.

I'm not speaking for him, and next time I see him I'll point him this way.

Thank you. Even if he just comes in and says, "I know nothing more than you guys" it would be very helpful right now.

The only reason I thought it might be the case is because it would be absolutely moronic to give the probot a lower HAM than a LE Repair Droid. Ifind it hardto believe that the developers are that stupid.

But we will have to see. All we've got is TH's recent post on the droid armor issue, but all he revealed in thatpost was that he has no knowledge of the current or past state of droid armor. /sigh
