Thread: DE's real need to have a droid that other profs MUST have
Thunderheart garranteed that it won't happen last week. It is what is needed, but the Devs don't want to do it.
Why the Sodan proposal has come up. If we can't get them to alter it so that DEs are needed by others, we would at least like to see it where the profession is still worthwhile to play for other reasons (because the few that exist pale in comparison to the 'true' crafting professions).
BH require Pistols, Carbines and Light Lightning Cannons. Commando's require flame throwers. Pistoleers require pistols...
...Every combat profession requires a specific type of weapon. Why the rest of the crafters get spat on, I don't know. There is no real requirement for Armorsmiths, Smugglers, Architects, Chefs, DE, etc...While some of these professions are in HIGH demand, it is not impossible to master a combat profession.
This to me, is the major imbalance in this game. Not whether one combat class is better than another...but the fact that all the crafting professions are so off-cander.
Thus.. our problem...
Our products "should" benefit all professions... since, by definition, robotics are supposed to aid in the execution of repetitive, mundane AND even critical tasks. Our problem has been stated, and restated, and restated here in this forum. The Dev's evidently have little desire to give us the abilities to craft and deploy droids that can have a dramatic effect on the efficient execution of other professions.
Speculation runs rampant.. however, it is (from what I can tell) the general concensus that all of the other professions are providing medicines, foods, skill tapes, etc... which are used to enhance player skills and functions... which we could also provide via utility modules built into droids.
Additional speculation brings us to the point that the Devs see this system as already "in balance"... and that by providing toUS the abilities that are required to make the DE profession a profitable (and competitive) one, that balance (that already exists) will spin away and down the fecal eflux tubes.
