LOL ;-P

I for one never knew the difference, since I started making droids after the 7 patch. I never really bothere before, since they weren't very usefull. It'll be like a whole new world for me when they bring back colors to the bot frames hehe

Was this to uber or something? Oh no not a colored droid chasis *gasp*

I can see how this could ubalnce the entire game and throw us into a 100 years of darkness but cmon youd think of all the things to Nerf this wouldnt be one of them.

They need to take away that Nasty Nerf Bat out of the blind mans hands that keeps swinging away at everything in his path

Colored chassis were not 'nerfed'. The reason we lost the ability to color the chassis is because in publish 8 they are going to change how droid deeds appear. Basically they will be like the BE deeds and will look like the finished product instead of a scrap of paper. One hopes we will regain the ability to color the droid at that point and possibly the colors will now 'stick'.

It's just a transition phase and has nothing to do with wanting or needing to take away any abilities.

I disagree.

Coloring chassis was a great business because you could offer trade-ins and make truly custom "static" furnature for people.

In the new system (which uses more resources - notably the chemical) we have to actually complete the droid in order for it to be decorative. And, unless they are inventing a totally new system for DEdeed naming (which is doubtful, especially since TH said it would take "weeks and weeks" of work to just allow us to put -'s and #'s in droid names), we are no longer going to be able to offer trade-ins for people because we can't reuse the chassis when their needs change, and they will be more expensive in the first place. What are you gonna do with a droid with no modules named "Welcome to Luke's Cantina!" when Luke's Cantina becomes "Luke's Dress-shop"? At least before I could take it back, give them a new one for a nominal fee, and send away someone happy with droids. Now I'm going to be apologizing again when I say "Might as well destroy it ".

This was the only way some DE's survived some of the cold nights of the profession, and it was thoughtlessly (and stealthly) taken away.

It's great if you support this new system - but the fact of the matter is they did NOT have to eliminate the old one at the same time, much less done it before the new system was in place, and especially without warning.

The droid deed system NEVER recognized the chassis color in the first place. It was a "useless" step to them that had an indirect benefit to DE's. I do not see any reason they could not have left well enough alone - made the new droid system ignore the coloring just as the old one did. This isn't paint on metal here, this is a color code attached to an object- either the new deed sees it, or it doesn't. If it's not that cut and dry (they can make the new system recognize a color value or not), then we have more problems than I thought.

The point is you are right, and this wasn't likely an active nerf - it's even sadder than that; they likely didn't even know what they were doing and, worst of all, don't care. Unless it gave us too many "checkers" to sell a droid component for decorating (which would make it an active nerf), it was just an oversight because either no one is paying attention to us or they don't care what effect their actions have on the existing droid market and profession.

You keep claiming this. Please tell me what droid requires more chemicals for its advanced chassis than its basic deed.

Can they be colored anymore?? a DE told me you can no longer make the droid chasis (sp?) diffrent colors anymore

Meaning im stuck with a grey repair droid or a greenish medic droid and cannot have them changed colors anymore when they are being made

As I recall, customization is supposed to be "properly" restored in P8.

Should Sony and Lucas Arts be worried? (15000 users * 5 accts = ~$13MIL in potential lost gross annual revenue) If I were the CEO for either LA or SOE, I would certainly be worried.
