Ok, I accept the fact that our vision of the DE Hybrid could not take form in the game creators' eyes..... But what part wouldnt work? (Looking to TK on this one!)
If we can find out what parts didnt seem reasonable, maybe we could adjust our vision.
On a side note, perhaps we need to consider an idea that puts using combat droids more in line with any other combat profession... have some sort of hand-held "weapon" droid-control device (would help prevent balance issues by not allowing the bearer to use a free droid AND their own combat profession - one or the other.... no dcd equiped, droid is listless)... I know even CH can use some other profession while controlling their creature, but again, CH is a full-fledged profession, and we already decided we dont want a DH. Just a thought... anyone else like it?

I suppose part of this goes right along with TK's request/plea for more guidance and something of a 'gameplan' we can use when creating proposed changes...

The reason why any hybrid DE proposal will not fly may be explained in one sentence:
Artisan professions cannot have combat abilities or combat skill modifiers.
This is simply a fact that SOE will not budge on for the first incarnation of their game. Most DE's do not accept this premise. However, anyone interested in making a serious hybrid DE proposalfor the Space Expansion must accept it and move forward from there. The challenge is to unmarry DE from the artisan skill line to simultaneously provide combat functionality as well as general purpose droids. Future proposals need to abandon the idea of retro-fitting the current skill tree, and instead come up with something radically different.

Simple truth - they dont have the b-alls to tell us why Sodan's proposal was not balanced, hence limiting our ability (and willingness) to look forward and propose anything else. Lack of customer care, and lack of communication..so what's new?
Simple..but true

Well we will never really know what's implementable or not, so we can only speculate as to 'what went wrong'.
So yeah, i agree with mightion, leave that pile of glue and dog food alone.
