Thread: IDEA FOR NEW DRIOD how to suggest to devs

I have an ides for a new droid . An iterplanetary item delivery driod. It can be a single use droid like seeker droids. can carry up to like 3 items and deliver then to a player of your chooseing. It would make auction sales much easier to deliver and would also make it easy to deliver a weapon or peice of armor to a friend that is in combat and needs it fast.

Any idea on how to get this idea to the devs would be great .

Also any suggestions on improvments would be cool.

Actually, this isn't really that new of an idea. The single use spin on the droid is a bit different then what has been suggested in the past though. Single item delivery and multi-charge droid might be a better route to go. There could be a lot of technical issues with this suggestion such as target going off line and loss of items. Good suggestion though.

I've always been a huge fan of the item delivery droid, and drask is right, the limited use charged item may very well be a good way to go about it. I think the target going offline may not be much of an issue, just make the transfer instantaneous (and maybe even use code similar to bank tips, holding the items in escrow until the target is online if they're offline now). The problem I see is when the target has too many items in their inventory. Yea, they could always let the droid cheat and give you the item anyway (there are some things now that do this), but I'm not sure how well that would fly (if nothing else you'd have to limit the total storage still to 61 or 62, and anything over that gets returned to sender, though then you have problems with the senders inventory being full). I wonder if it might be possible to tie it into the bazaar system.... the target could pick up the item at any bazaar terminal (with normal bazaar time restrictions applying). That would allow for something that wouldn't be very easily exploitable (sure, you might be able to use the bazaar for extra storage, but its less convenient than a bank and a general pain in the ass) and yet be convenient for forum auctions/trades (or those conducted through the new chat channel)....

oh, and drashk... I think you screwed up your sig again! I'm only getting a little bit of the upper portion of the links, looks like its too big.

One of the other problems that I could see is some sort of accept popup that would need to be added. Problem with this is two fold. Without it, this could become an annoying grief with people sending junk items to clog up someone elses inventory. With it, there could be a problem with canceled delieveries. There are many possible issues that could pop up with something that is tied into the vendor system or instant delivery. On a general issue with this idea - It would need to be certed to a certain profession or tier 4 skill. Artisan 0/0/4/0 or Novice Merchant, or Novice Crafting profession would be the best place to cert this one to. Needing a Cert would appeal to the DEVs, at least in my opinion.

Argh.....(Self-Editfor the protection of our younger readers) Lithium board keeps eating my sig for some people and every time that I try to adjust it, it goes all screwy.

Heh, I think the Devs have their hands full right now .

But pass the idea to TK, if and when they ever get all the other stuff in the game fixed, it's a nice idea.

I could see them sending it to the persons bazaar pickup list without an accept. Have it send them an email letting them know there's an item there, then if they don't want it they can either grab it and deleate it or let it sit there for 48 hours or whatever the expiration time on them is. Your not cluttering up the customers inventory and they can do it at their leasure. I'd say to minimize problems just say anything that isn't picked up by the cutomer within 48 hours just poofs. Another way to do it along the same lines would be to just make a delivery center in all the NPC cities. You then sent the droid to a specific city and the customer could retrieve the item from the delivery center (restricting it a bit so you have to know where the person is/will be and taking it away from the bazaar system, which it probably couldn't be integrated into now that I think about it).
