G'day all. I've done a search on patrolling, and found out a couple of things. For instance, you can programme 10 patrol points, which was one of the things I wanted to know but didn't. Good. Not an awful lot on patrolling droids in the various FAQs and guides, though, so perhaps you could answer the following for me:

  1. Is there a limit on the length of any one 'leg' of a droid patrol?

  2. The other day, my droid got 'caught' in a rock on Tatooine and I ended up storing him. If I'd gone out of range, would the rock have 'de-spawned' allowing the droid to continue?

  3. Will patrol points be remembered after a droid has been stored and recalled?

  4. Can I programme patrol points remotely? I.e. say "/tellpet Bullet get patrol point 2500 -4800" or something like that?

Think that's all for now... thanks.

Aethal Sar, Weaponsmith. Retired from game - probably missing it already!

Straight from JediYak's FAQ sticked in the FAQ thread.

-Notes on patrolling: After you set your droid to patrol, it will continuously walk between all of the patrol points even if you are not in the area. I've tried it up to 2000m away and being in a different city, and the droid keeps on going... and going... If you set patrol points inside buildings, the droid will sometimes warp between the points if it can't find the route to go, so you can sometimes have droids appearing in your living room then upstairs bedroom. It can even go into buildings that you've been later banned from -- there is nothing the owner can do to make it leave until the server reboots. When placing patrol points, the queue will continually accept points until you make the droid move by following someone. Thus, if you tell it to follow you, then give it a point, then move 100m and give it a new point, it will only remember the last point. You can, however, give it new points once it's patrolling. You can give it points from up to 50 m away, so you can theoretically set your droid to patrol for 500m. This combined with a creative name can result in some great advertising.

The other day, my droid got 'caught' in a rock on Tatooine and I ended up storing him. If I'd gone out of range, would the rock have 'de-spawned' allowing the droid to continue?

Nope. The terrain will only change when a lair is added to the area. This is part of the general problem with having pets/droids follow at a fast rate of pace. There is also a general pathing error that occurs with pets/droids

From Gorantoth's Centralized Droid Issues. Also Stickied to the top.

Droids often stop following without reason. This is a generic pet problem as it happens to all pets, not just droids. Pets seem to get stuck on invisible zone boundries. Walking up to about 10-20m from the pet and re-issuing a 'follow' command fixes it (most of the time).

Will patrol points be remembered after a droid has been stored and recalled?

Again from Gorantoth's Centralized Droid Issues.

Patrol points do not store after a droid is stored. (By Design?)

Can I programme patrol points remotely? I.e. say "/tellpet Bullet get patrol point 2500 -4800" or something like that?

Nope.
