My question is that I hate using backpacks to store all my stuff in my house. Could I use droids to do this? or even droid chassis floating in my home? obviously I want them to always be there and not on my person, so the chassis I believe is the way to go, but could someone clarify this for me?

Chassis are just furnitures, you can't put anything in them.
To put something in a droid, the droid must have an item sotrage module limited to 10, and be in your datapad.
Try unlocked containers, they don't look very good but better than a backpack.
And afaik it's the only piece of furniture beside a crafting station that can hold stuff and don't looks like a bag.

Yep....would have been cool if all the furniture aleady in the game actually worked, ie Bookcases and Armoires.

You can hide your backpacks in a book shelf, just turn them sideways, adjust with the up/down no one will ever notice....

Not only can droid deeds not hold anything, called droids won't remain once you're logged. So using them as furniture won't work anyway. And the ridiculously small number of items a droid can carry makes it not worth pursuing, IMO.
I stick with backpacks, mainly because they hold more than twice as much as unlocked containers. And since I'm constantly having to get rid of stuff I hope I don't needdue to item limits in houses, 1 backpack holding as much as 2 locked containers means one extra itemI can have in the house.Couldn't care less how they look, since I keep them in back rooms. But yeah, the concept of bookcases, armoires, chests, etc being able to actually HOLD something isn't one this world is ready for, apparently.
