After a 6 month hiatus I came back to SWG, and decided to pursue the career of DE. My friends in game provided the resources for me to grind out MDE, so I got to grinding. I'm now at 4/3/4/4 and decided to take a break and figure some stuff out. Gathered the resources, and set about making an Advanced Probot.
Here's what came out:
HAM: 3136
Attack speed: .77
To HIt: .4
Damage: 166-174
IIRC, the combat rating was 455 (can't seem to find it now)
With no experience with droids, I'm not quite sure whether this was a good build or not. Or where I could improve. So any critique/advice would be appreciated.

Formula to convert rate is somewhere in the sticky.
HAM looks ok.
Speed and damage aren't bad, but aren't the best or very good. They're 'just quite good' if you know what I mean.
Concidering that you're not master it's quite ok in fact.
It's not the best combat droid you can have, but it's definitively usable compared to the best.
Pick high oq/cond copper for the combat module (oq+cond > 1800 ).

A couple of questions (and I've printed out the droid guide) the To Hit: stat, is that like wound chance on weapons? So the higher number the better?
Does the quality of components/sub components play much of a part? IE, is experimenting on the droid brains going into combat modules worth the time/energy/effort?
And on the final, what does Experimental Quality, Durability and Effectiveness affect?
Thanks in advance!

To hit : basically , with 0.40, the droid has 40% chance to hit when it fire. That's how I understand it.
So yeah, the higher the better.
For the droid brain, I have to say, I'm not sure, I usually experiment them then make a schematic and run 1000, so it's not alot of effort.
Effectiveness on combat module increase combat rate.
Effectiveness on final droid increase HAM and combat speed.
The others do nothing, or something no one can see.
Only exceptions are some modules (stimpack dispencer, trapping module,..), repair kit and survey droid.
Everything else, only effectiveness does matter (has a proven effect).
