Finishing the last touches on my latest line of Advanced R3's geared toward the many doctors that have seemed to prop un around corellia these days, I scan the interior of my shop contemplating how i will transport these 15 droids by myself. With dismay i pass by the BLL sitting in the cornor of my shop collecting dust, and instead opt to jam the 15 droids into the holding space on 2 mse's i have laying around. The constant chirping these little guys make is far more acceptable to the constand banging of the BLL and complaints i recieve when it hammers thru starport.

Locking my shop door i increadably pull a swoop speeder bike from thin air. I place the 2 mse droids in my backpack and climb on heading to my cities shuttle port located a mear 600 meters away. After loading up the option on the locat ticket vendor i purchace a ticket for coronet starport and walk over the protocol droid standing nearby.

"Whens the next shuttle due to arrive?"

"The next shuttle will arrive in 1 minute and 42 second"

Hmmm so sir or thank you, i have to talk to the mayor about changing the protocol's personality chip from prissy to worshipful, it might make a better conversation while waiting the galactic standard time for the next shuttle to arrive. As the shuttle lands i remember my swoop is still nearby and issue the command in my Data pad for it to store away. I then select the use command on the ticket i am holding and feel a strange sensation come over me. Next thing i know i'm standing in the middle of Coronet Starport. I'll never get used to the shuttle speeds these days, wow what a ride.

After gaining control of my body, i frown realizing i am still registerd with the Galactic Trade Buruea, and a large glowing sign is following me around proclaiming me aMaster Droid Engineer. Hoping to make a quick dash tru coronet and travel to my shop 1500meters away i take off at a slow run. Not more than two steps outside of starports main entrance do i get stopped by a smallBothanwho begins conversing in the basic tongue.

"Hey, I need a droid with a food station inn it, can you make me one?"

"At this time i don't have any droids with just food crafting stations in them, i do have a few medical droids on my vendor that includes food/chemical crafting stations in them on my vendor would you care for one of those?"

"No i want a food crafting station and nothing else"

"Since i don't have any in stock if you send me an e-mail i will get back to you asap with both a price and delivery time"

"Cant you just make me one now?"

"Unfortunatly sir i don't carry the many droid parts and resources i use on me, I leave them at my shop and then transport completed droids to my vendor."

"You can use my resources i'm a master chef what do you need?"

"Well Sir it really depends on what type of droid you are interested in"

"I want one of those cool R2D2's with the clear dome on top of them! those look so Kewl"

"Ah you mean an R3 astromech droid, Unfortunately that i definitely cannot make on the spot as they require a few parts that have to be made in a factory. The must be identical for the R3 to function properly."

"Well what can i get with these resources?"

The bothan opens his pack pack allwoing me to look over his meager selection of resources

"Well good sir, to be honest with you, with what resources you have the best droid i could make you is an MSE "mouse" droid with just a food crafting station installed into it. However we must first make a short trip to the local bazaar terminal and see if there is any inert gas available, as you seem to be lacking that one resource i would need to acomplish this"

"Ok i'll buy what ever is needed"

"The highest overall quality you can find and afford would suffice"

After a short trip to the local bazaar unit and the procurement of said gas, i call forth my trusty crafting droid lovingly name "crafty" from my data pad and remove my droid crafting tool from my back pack. After a few munites of loading the correct resources into the tool i push a few buttons and wait for the the timer on the tool to reach zero and spit out a newly assembled MSE. After a few short moment the droid materializes in my inventory and i look to the bothan and let him know his droid is completed.

"How much is this gonna cost me? I don't have alot of money"

Shaking my head, i look him over and repond kindly

"This droid is free, at a later date when you want to upgrade to a more modern droid chassis, please keep me in mind and thanks"

"Wow dud you're the best!"

The small bothan runs of to try out his new droid. Calling my swoop from my data pad amazed at how it seems to materialize from nothing. I climb abourd and make a mad dash for the cities out limits. Not more than 50 meters out of the city do i receive a strange voice hammering into my head.

"Hey man, i need a tank droid that can solo NS you got any of those?"

After climbing up off the ground and back onto my swoop, i wipe the tears of laughter from my eyes and respond to this mysterious voice echoing in my head

" Im sorry sir but current protocol does not allow me to make any such droid. No one can make a droid that could stand up to the rigors of a Night Sister i'm afraid. Rumor has it they can use mysterious force powers that disable droids almost instantly."

"Fine i'll go find another DE that can make on strong enough for me"

"Good luck on your adventure sir"

With discust i reach up and pull the damn glowing sing over my head and toss it angrily into a storage compartment in my swoop, Contemplating never removing it from there again i cover the final distance to my shop. I enter my shop and remove the two mse droids i had in my back pack, I place them on the ground and remvoe the 15 droids they where holding in there storage, i'm still amazed at the wonders of how they work. I hand them over to my automated vendor that takes them without comment. I insert a few lines of text into each droids descriptions and set an asking price for each droid.

Realizing the late time i go into the back room of the house my vendor is located in and take a seat deciding to take a nap

Nice narrative.

But it raises a question or two.

Why would you HAVE to make certain components in a factory? I haven't seen anything written in these forums to indicate that a droid with multiples of the same component HAVE to be identical? Or was this just part of the story?

Was the highest quality inert gas REALLY necessary to construct a food crafting module for a droid? Does the module have a rating that can be affected by such? I've made a couple of them and saw no indication that it would make a difference whether I used swamp gas or the best quality stuff I could find.

Sorry if I ruined your story!

An Adv R3 requires two advanced brains from a factory crate

The quality of the gas wouldn't have mattered.

The R3 requires identical Advanced droid brains (i think) and the Adv DB needs factory EMM and GPD chips. I don't think the inert gas would bring the crafting station down too much but it does matter.

already answered above

Though it's up for debate, and has been argued both ways, experimenting on subcomponents (in my experience) gives you a better chance at a successful assembly of the droid. I'd imagine the guy didn't have that many resources, and the last thing the DE wanted to do was have a critical fail and leave the guy with no droid and fewer resources. It's probably better, given that he had to buy inert gas anyways, to buy the best you can get anyhow - the leftovers will make it worth your while to keep and use later.

Is the requirement for identical components mentioned in the schematic? Or is one left to try and figure it out for themselves like so many other things in this game?

It is mentioned in the schematic 2 Identical Advanced droid brains is what it says. Identical of course means that the serial #'s have to be the same.

Well I prefer to deal with what is instead of what might be, you go insane otherwise.

In any case, it isn't practical to always use the best of the best, nor is it always advisable, especially when building a free crafting MSE out of the blue. I mean the guy's a Master Chef but doesn't have a lot of money? Obviously he doesn't care about the quality.

I understand that perhaps your integrity demands it of you, and I feel the same way to a degree. But my ONLY concern is does it have an effect in-game?

I know that the oq of the inert gas doesn't matter much atm, but i'm a whole hearted believe in cover my hind now and not later, i make sure that all my crafting stations have the best rating i can, you never know when a nerf will come along and actually make that rating important. I could image the screams of my customers now. BTW i practice this with all my droid components, it may cost more (wich is questionable i mine all my own resources). But i sleep better everynite know that if the Dev ever do look into it, my customers will not be complaining to me by the starship full.
