I know this is going to sound like a daft question coming from me seeing how long I've been playing but can someone explain what the skill tape bonuses do (I know how to put the tapes into clothes) in terms of the DE profession (I'm guessing alot of the bonuses for DE are largely pointless since experimentation is largely pointless?) is it as simple as a tape rated 1 adds 1 point to experimentation in that area?
A specific question I have is: Are there 'bad' tapes (i.e. ones that have minuses, or are minus figures good for the specified skill?)

The only tapes that are worth anything for a DE ar Experimentation and Assembly. You want positive tapes, not negative ones.
Assembly will help you get better assemblies and less failures. This is a point by point conversion, meaning every point helps.
Experimentation will get you more experimentation points. It's not a one to one conversion though, you get 1 point for every 10 points, maxing at 2 extra at 20. There are a couple of modules it helps you with, but not many. It is a little help if you mess up on an experiment though.

Other Droid Tapes:
* Droid Customization - Allows you to use a full color palette when coloring a droid. Which a Master can already do. /shrug
* Droid Precision - Is this a BH thing?
* Droid Speed - I believe makes the seeker/probe droids get results quicker (for BH's only)
* Droid Complexity - Unknown; skill was removed from game

* Droid Complexity - Unknown; skill was removed from game Is it? I thought it was still active. Oh well

Yeah if you have an article of clothing on that has a complexity tape in it, it'll pop up, but if you put you cursor over it, it says it "null" or something. I have no idea what it's original intent was. Maybe it was a separate skill to decrease failures...who knows.

I think it was one of those "helps out the non-master" or maybe they implemented it for later when they'll make droid commander a profession (not just a tag-line for pilots....
)
I think it was supposed to let you make more complex droids easier or something like that, along the same lines that BE's can make strong pets lower levels so you need less in CH to use them, but they seem to have abandoned the idea of droid complexity mattering when using a droid. that's my best guess.
