Thread: How to make Developers take notice

Feel free to post strategies on how to get our issues through to the developers. While other professions seem to be getting non-essentials such as the pistoleer profession getting new animations and pistol holsters, we Droid Engineers are left in the dark.

Our Correspondent Sintrosi has tried everything to get our issues though but to no avail, for that I salute him, and you have my respect.

But if the developers don't even listen to our correspondent, is there any reason to even have one? When the time comes for correspondent selection time, why not even put one forward? Just have no droid correspondent. That’s one way to make a statement. Heck we'll probably get more opinions though that way...

Or how about getting a famous figure to head our campaign. Think George Bush will be free next month? How about George Lucas? Think he'llhave the time to becomeour correspondent?

Guerrilla tactics always works, time for some camping outside the SOE HQ? Stopping the donut van outside the entrance is a sure bet to make a difference.

Dictionary.com gives a description forthe wordcorrespondent.

1. One who communicates by means of letters.
2. One employed by the print or broadcast media to supply news stories or articles: a foreign correspondent.
3. One that has regular business dealings with another, especially at a distance.
4. Something that corresponds; a correlative.

I know our correspondent is doing his job, but are the developers doing theirs?

For those of you who haven't payed attention... Sintrosi is a girl. Please use "her" instead of "him"... It's embarrassing.

The 1st 10% of the code takes 90% of the time; the remaining 90% of the code takes the remaining 90% of the time.

Are the Devs moderators? If so then everyone click on report abuse to moderator button on the page listing all of the issues. If 1000 people did it, someone would see it at least......

Write a letter to Lucas Arts. Lucas Arts are very concerned with their image and let them know how blundered SOE has handled this so far...

Just a couple suggestions.

ooooh I like that abuse button Idea. But Xahn recently proved that he/she doesnt actually read the posts, just shuts them down. What we need is help for our issues in other forums, as has been suggested a few times in the other ignored professions just to add numbers to our voices.

The real problem is primarily that droid engineers have little or no impact on the game itself. Until the recent Droid vendor removals, our presence in the game was peripheral at best. Everyone needs a gun., Most artisan buy a house for storage and larger harvesters, even armor has a place for the combat classes. But after the probot nerf, there is no system in the game that we affect. There are a few die hard fans that want droids for the "cool" factor, but lets be honest, most of those same die hard fans ARE droid engineers... tailors have the entertainers clamoring for more. Even chefs had a place for combat buffs ( not always useful, given the general lack of eggs and milk in the game, a primary ingredient of the high end buffs.... imagine a server that never spawned extrusive ore )

Most of the combat classes, while buggy and often broken, at least had a purpose. With the advent of Creature handler pet sales to ALL players ( with higher stats than the ORIGINAL probot I might add) the droid engineer as a useful part of the game died.

While there will be some DEs that claim that the demand for medical droids and crafting droids is high, I say that they are not NECESSARY,and areeasily substituted with something else.

If the only voices crying out in frustration are our own, they will not carry enough weight with management to devote any resources to our cause. We KNOW they dont read this Forum. We KNOW that not a single Developer plays a Droid engineer. We are the only voice speaking for this profession and we are not loud enough to get any attention.

I've also said this before, and I will say it again, that we're never going to rise very high on the list of priorities when Droid Engineers are raking in so much money! Compared to tailors, armor smiths, etc., we're making just loads of money and that, in the minds of a company like SOE, means success.
