Thread: A little good news for a change

In spite of all the negative things that have happened to our profession (which is more accurately to be described as all the nothings that have happened to our profession in the face of the spate of other things that have happened to other professions and areas of the game), I do have a little bit of good news to share with my colleagues.

First of all, I was able to confirm today that on the live servers, people can still call their pets AND their droid at the same time. I was able to do this myself (as DE) and two friends of mine (non-DEs) were able to do this as well. I am not able to get onto test center to verify whether this is still the case there too or not (the TC client crashes on me EVERY time I go to run it, even though I did a full scan on it and the full client works on my system just fine--or at least as fine as I can hope for).

Secondly, with all the new player cities sprouting up, they will be building their own shuttleports. When they do, they require a Protocol ADV Droid Chassis from us to do so. While there are a very small and very finite number of cities allowed at present (and that means a similar finite number of shuttleports as well), at least it is a dependence on us and our products. I would totally agree that this is miniscule...but the reality is that they didn't have to do it at all, so the fact that they did should at least count for something!

Even more good news. According to the patch notes, our droid CSMs (Crafting Station Modules) are now back to private again. See? When they're properly motivated, they can make things happen!

People can still call their pets and droids at the same time, yes. But, that is because the new CH adjustment has not gone live yet. It is not even on TC yet. Only when this new proposed system goes live will the limit of one pet of any kind be enforced.

They broke a working feature (again!) and then had to go back and fix it and this is supposed to be good news?

They're just patching up their sloppy work and haven't improved our profession at all...

I'd call it good news, probots are better than CL10 pets any day, there will be fewer CH's, and you have to be overt to have a faction pets. probots will be the best non-ch pet you can get (though you may have to convince some people of that).

Well a CH friend of mine checked the last probot I build for him. He said it listed as Clvl-16. I think thats a misprint but who knows. You do have a good point here Jenden, but Im not sure it will be entirely true. Not even sure Ill still be around to find out even.

Take care...

Yes, the 16 is left over from pre-nerf probots. The thing with droids though is the armor is not taken into account for the CL (at least, not the full armor). The pre-nerf bot with full armor would more likely have matched up with a 25 or so (not positive, since I don't do anything with creatures).

I think there are a couple points people will need to see before they realize why probots are better than CL10 pets definately, mabye better than CL15. The main one is the whole healing issue. Everyone always says creatures are great because they can be healed. The only problem is, with the frequency it needs to be healed and the mind cost and the wasted combat rounds it takes to heal them you could have done a decent amount of damage to whatever your attacking. Plus, I know some people who primarily keep medic around because of their pet. With droids, since you don't need to worry about healing them, there's 15 more skill points you can free up. Secondly, being able to have 5 droids in your datapad means you can rotate them if your going after tougher stuff (assuming you have novice scout). Even with only 2 or 3 you can usually get them fully healed between rotations, so that eliminates much if any downtime.

Anyway, there's my little blurb for the usefullness of probots.

Now if Ditanium Steel will ever spawn, I could make some 3PO;s.
