My current DE skills are 1-0-4-4. A friend asked me to make him a R2 unit with a WS station in it.

So I figure I make a ADV. R2 Unit for him. In the schematic I find I need the item mentioned in the topic. THe General droid module socket cluster. I find it in the 3rd box in the Droid production tree. WTH?

Is this intended or what? Are there a crappier version of thos general socket cluster found sooner?

Its intended and I hope its one thing that doesn't change. Spreading things out throughout the tree's like this prevents people abusing the DE class like they did the CH, just learning one tree and ruining the profession for others

Whether it was intended or not remains to be seen.

That's just what we got.

Actually, I think it's the normal R2 unit that needs the cluster, and the Adv version does NOT. That's why I thought it was so freaking funny.

I usually made the non-Adv units for most droids, but for R2 I made the Adv specifically because of this fact.

Unless your customer asks for so many modules that you have to build an Adv or load up a cluster, it's just a big pain in the butt to make Adv versions of most models that use more resources and components.

The R3 Adv needs like THREE brains. They must be really, reallysmart crafting stations

"When Sony and Lucas set out, we said, How can we do this and not make another EQ? We didn't want it to be all about Luke, or combat, or lock our players into a class. So we created a system that would allow players to switch professions during the game, and there would be a lot of gameplay around making that change. If you want to go from architect to scout we've created a system to make that happen."

Actually, a basic R2 takes one Cluster, with up to three nested modules. The Advanced R2 takes one Cluster plus two individual modules, for a total of five.

As for the pain involved in making things, that will go down when you have been making factory components for a while. When you have an inventory full of crates of advanced brains, advanced motive systems, manipulator arm package sets and all that other stuff, most droids are quite easy to make, whether basic or advanced. Of course, until you hit Master, you will likely want to keep this limited, as it will give you great ease at the cost of the experience you could have earned hand-crafting the parts. Another benefit to mastery is that one need not do so much module-stacking anymore, so basic models of droids made by a master can have the same functionality as the advanced versions using stacked level 4 modules. A good example of this is the probot, where if all you want is a 40% medium-armored probot, many droid engineers can create them, but only a master can make a basic probot this way.

For the R3s, the real trick is that the advanced brains MUST be factory-duplicates, so you've got a bit of planning ahead to do. If, however, you think that is bad, you should go look at the schematic for a binary load lifter! :-)

Taking a well-deserved vacation from his successful Droid Engineering business, Master Rho can be found puttering around the galaxy.

I'm getting to that point.

I've got my equipement factory set up (well, actually I just moved and can't place it until resources shift and all these little harvester guys move out of my little niche) and have started producing some of the basic components in bulk.

Problem now, I'm running out of room in my house!

I plan on building a sweet R unit (what kind to make, what kind to make) with a WDG station and nothing but stacked item storage.

Then I can load ol' Bessy up and take the show on the road. My architect friend did this. Imagine peoples surprise as he cranked out custom made houses on the spot!

I want to meet-and-greet and deliver the goods like THAT........

Yeah, I've looked at the BLL with lust in my eyes- FOUR motive units! But there's no Duranium around here, so I can't even build a display model for my shop.

Shift! Shift! Cummon darn it! Shift!
