Thread: DE Questions from a DO
Proud Droid Owner, that is. I think you guys are great, and along with Chefs (actually even more) the most unappreciated of the crafting professions. Ok, flattery over; hereis my question.
Is it possible to have an Advanced Probot with a Med module, crafting station AND item storage? On Scylla a DE is telling me no, that can't happen. But on Tempest I own one. I can craft with it (yes, i experimented to see if the crafting station worked), heal with it and it has a 6 item storage compartment (that is level 4, right?). Sorry if these seem like dumb questions; but please try to think from the viewpoint of your customers who know little if anything at all. Thanks for your help.
There are two slots for modules in an advanced probot.
Therefore your DE on Scylla is telling the absolute truth.
However, there is something called a 'General Droid Module Socket Cluster'. This thing has three module slots in it, and there are special slots for them on some advanced droids...
But the socket clusters can actually be fit into standard sockets, although I think the vast majority of the DEs consider this to be exploitive. So your DE on Tempest used this to create the droid.
I avoid making droids using this mechanism, I consider it 'unclean'.
It's not unclean, it's a freakin bug that'll get squashed as soon as someone gets off their butt.
Hopefully all those pre-squash droids will still work. I don't see why not since the modules are already in place. But as we've seen droids are strange creatures, or whatever.....

Exactly the reasons why I never do this either. This exploit is potentially fixable on a daily patch without notice, and there's no guarantee that 'pre-squash' exploited droids will continue to work.
kind of like pre-nerf probots failed to work... oh wait!
But (offering the other half of the argument, for argument's sake) We have a hundred bugs that work against us. I'm happy to enjoy the one that actually works For us. Just because we have a choice of not working with this bug (unlike most all the other things, like data modules, repair kits, power droids, repair droids, etc that we don't have a choice working around) doesn't mean I'm going to choose to ignore it.You can call me exploitive if you like, I'm just going to be happy playing DE. And if the modules do get locked off, then through my return policy I'll be taking back all the nonmodule-functioning droids (I doubt they'll wipe them entirely) and make a little further profit in cheap combat-only probots while reselling fully functional droids to the customers doing the trade-in. They pay only a little more, more customers pay a little to get a combat droid, and we all walk away relatively happy. And this is assuming that they dont' work further (which I'm gambling that they will).
Wow, that sounds almost evil. Well, there you go. I try not to break the rules when I can, but there is the occasional time when players request such droids.
