Thread: Proposal for DH alternative

Ok, i know alot dissagree with DH and some want it. I personally agree more with the cert system giving us a much wider market to sell to rather than just one proffession.

Now, here is something i thought up, not sure if anyone has had anything similar:

Droids are usable by anyone, including light combat droids and the utility droids. (Seekers/Arakyds of course are BH only)

Now in order to use more advanced droids, and the higher end combat droids, you will required to understand the basics about what you are operating. Now if you will all check the artisan skill tree you will notice the engineering line. I suggest placing certs on the engineering line for advanced combat droids.

Here is my reasoning:

Anyone who wants to use these more advanced combat droids will be required to spend points on novice artisan and grind thru the engineering line. This is not difficult i know, and can be done in a very short time. However i see this as being a logical way, now you have knowledge of advanced systems etc and an understand very basically how the combat droid works. Most people will happily spend these SP's to gain maybe even a level on cert to use a droid. This would also give us crafters a combat capability, most/ all of us have master artisan and so engineering 4 and would be able to use the best combat droids to help us out (droids we made) as we suck as combat.

Its a pretty basic idea, and i know you will ask, now people will get engineering 4 instead of CH. But maybe if the droids only went up to a certain level, say like engineering 4 = DL 20-25 droid? CH pets would still remain better. Then we as DE would be able to control a droid which was a little better than that, say at master DE you get a cert for an advanced DL 30-35 or so droiddeka or somthing?

Ok flame away or add your ideas.

This is pretty good, whats funny is i just proposed something VERY similar in my own little thread, i guess everyone is thinking up different hybrid schemes to this whole DH, DE scenario, but i think the important part is, we DONT want DH to be a full fledged profession, either make it like a half profession like i suggested, or do what nakedw00kie is suggesting, and tack it onto the engineering tree, something we all already have to begin with.

ok, thats my $.02

Just to add to my original post, at Master Artisan maybe another cert for advanced droid could be added. All novice proffessions could use the probots, and elite proffessions could get a specific droid class for them (or two) - like a cert system almost. For example, rifleman could get a combat droid with a targetting system, giving the ownera small bonus to there rifle accuracy etc. BH could get improved probots which could be used as seekers (seeker ability available at investigation 3/4 or master), but could have a chance of being sighted and damaged during there mission.
