Thread: Good Idea? Yes/No, Comments Please.
I heard talking droids now talk on there own accord. That is totally awesome, score one for the devs. This is a level of immersion that Is needed. I have not made a talking droid yet cause I haven't had the datapad space for it, so I haven't witnessed this occurrence first hand. I did have a good idea on the way home the other day, a hour long commute helps my brain think of things or I'm just senile you pick. My idea is when a talking droid has a personality chip installed it allows the owner to put more comments into the droid. This would work the same as the dev installed droid speech which I think works this way.
The droid hears the conversations of all around and looks for key words in those conversations. My idea would allow us to open a dialog box on the droid to designate key words for the droid to look for and a response for the key words.
Example:
I make a LE repair droid with barker module saying "/sing I'm a little barker hear me shout, click me for a waypoint". Then set the droid responses like so:
*ha* "what is so funny I'm working here"
*?* "quit looking at me like that, I'm no pleasure droid"
*what the* "you heard me, if your not interested get moving along"
*out of here*weird* "about time my ocular sensors were starting to fuse"
so a player walking around coronet hears the barker
barker: I'm a little barker hear me shout, click me for a waypoint
player: ha ha what a stupid ad
barker: what is so funny I'm working here
player: what the heck it talked back
barker: you heard me, if your not interested get moving along
player: when did they ad this?
barker: quit looking at me like that, I'm no pleasure droid
player: this is to weird im out of here
barker: about time my ocular sensors were starting to fuse
player walks away. wanting one for himself.
may not be good for buisness but great for imertion.
Shoot i forgot to add this to the main post. that the feature would not take up and database space since this would only be on when you were playing so the additonal comments would be stored client side and transfered if traded to another player. the amount of comments allowed would be 5-10 on chip itself and additonal comments could be stored on a data module.

In any case, if this is ever implemented in any way, it would be of great help to RPing and the 'immersion factor'.
