Do Astromechs have to be R5 Units or can they be R2 or R3?
And is it just one module that give the astromech its flight program ability and all the other module slots are free game?
I'm asking because I'm a new Rebel pilot and would love a R3 buddy for my astromech that can also help me creature harvest

Any astromech model can be used by pilots (R2/R3/R4/R5). And yes, all the other module slots on a droid chassis are fair game.

Ok I just came back to SWG right before the CU and as always I mastered DE on my alt. I left the game before JTL so I really am lost on many of the new JTL droid functions and components. My main question is I recently built a R3 droid for my main character to be used for JTL. However when I try to program it with anything it tells me that there is "not enough memory to do this" or something similiar to that. What exactly did I do wrong? Do JTL droids need to be Adv models?
Also how do the level certs for a pilot relate to droids? There a 6 different levels of droids they can use but what types of droids fall into each of these levels?

The astromech cert refers to the Level of the Data module in the Droid. If you do NOT experiment on the Data Module, the level will = the cert level. You can put it in any of our astromechs and they all preform the same. We have a lovely Sticky at the top of the forums that explains this and much much more I suggest you read that over a bit. Also the only ships that need Astromechs are z95, ywing, xwing, and Jedi Starfighter, the rest take Flight Computers.

"the only ships that need Astromechs are z95, ywing, xwing, and Jedi Starfighter, the rest take Flight Computers."*
and I remain gutted that the devs didnt take the opportunity to allow astromechs in more ships (the remaining Rebel and Imperial ships I can understand but why didnt they put them in some of the neutral ships?!!!!!!)
*sorry the quote function doesnt appear on the post editor under IE on a Mac

Yes. And please stop posting thread titles in all caps. Most people around here consider it rude.

Your choice of words is confusing, I want to make sure you understand. Astromechs and Flight Computers are totally seperate things. Some ships take one, some take the other. FLight Computers are just made, nothing special for them, however, in order to make an Astromech, you need to put in the proper level of data module, meaning level 6 for a level 6 Astro.
Yes you can make Astros and Flight Computers of a level you may not be certed to operate.
