If you grouped with your droid, the droid's CL would be brought down to your level.

Well there are two issues.
The first is where you group with the droid, bringing it down to your level.
The second is an issue where if the probot gets too close to its target (within 30m), it will start doing lower damage. The droid needs to get back out beyond 30m from the target to start working correctly again.
Interesting. Didn't realize that grouping with my pet was a lousy idea
I knew about the range issue, but somehow missed the grouping factor. Pity. Well I guess I can still target my pet to see how its doing in the fight. That would also explain why when I group with my friends (levels for them are over 60) that my Probot does fantastically better.
Does the CL go higher than 30 when grouping with very high level groupmates?

No, but the reason you saw it doing much better was because when you group with your friends who are above lvl 30 then the droid is now working at its full cl rating. So you were used to seeing it do medicocre damage being grouped with just u because it came down to your lvl and when you u saw it in with your friends group it was doing alot more. If that makes sense.

Actually, droids are treated just like pets when grouping. So if you have a CL 30 droid and it groups with a CL 80 person, it will calculate damage (attack and defense) as if it were a CL 80 creature.
Actually Rasal, I just tested this 2 days ago, grouping it with a level 80 didn't raise it's damage or defense. So it seems like Droids will go down from a group, but not up.

No this is wrong. The droid will only go to its max damage points of CL30 when grouped with anyone with a CL of 30 or higher. It can never go above the CL 30 and its crafted min-max damage output. The only thing you will notice is when its grouped with someone with a CL lower then 30 it will adjust its min-max damage output based upon the persons CL.
So it can never go above CL30 and its crafted min-max damage outputs. But it sure can go below.
