Greetings-
I'm a Master Commando and a Master Bounty Hunter, and I have some questions regarding droids. I figured since this is the forum for those who make it, that this would be the best place to ask these questions. Anyways, in the course of being a Bounty Hunter, I have used Arakyd Probe Droids and Seeker Droids regularly, and I have no problem using them and they work well for me. However, I'm curious about the rest of the droid family.
Now, with a CL of 80, I'm still stuck with 'a friendly mouse droid', and I would like to maybe trade up and get a nicer model, but I'm not all that sure about the pro's and cons of the different types of droids, what type of modules and extras that my droid would need, and what type of functions I would be able to use this droid for. I'm hoping that like a tailor, that my friendly neighborhood droid engineer could fit me for a droid.
As both a Master Commando and a Master Bounty Hunter, I would like a droid that could assist in combat or medical work if necessary. I'm not all that deep into piloting yet, but I've been working on it ever so slowly if I need a droid for any larger ships I get. Before we go much further, I also would like to know how many droids I can have at one time, so maybe I could have a combat droid, and a seperate piloting type droid?
For the combat part, I'm part of the Rebel Heavy Infantry and an Enforcer, which means I'm involved in base busting, and every so often I do a Bounty here and there, with a rare Jedi bounty mixed in once every blue moon. I have good stimpacks, and a little bit of Medical skills, so I don't need a droid to keep me alive, but it would be nice if a droid could do give a little help now and then. My main desire would be for a good durable droid that could assist in combat versus bases in a group, or assisting me rarely in solo combat.
If somebody could please help me find the droid for my needs, and where I could find it, I would be eternally grateful. I'm on the Ahazi server, so if your a seller and you got just the type of droid I need, let me know.
Thank you very much,
Rebel Heavy Infantry/Enforcer

basically any master droid engineer should be able to fix you up. to answer your questions, first i would find a MDE on your server and have him or her custom create you a droid, but this is what i have done in the past for a friend of mine who is a MBH
1. First you can only have 5 droids in your data pad right now and only one droid called at a time.
2. I created an advance probot with level 6 armor mod, and a combat module. this currently gives a cl30 rating which is the highest. I next put a stim pack dispenser in the droid so that it can heal him in combat, this can be experimented with to either distribute a lot of stims but hold less, or distribute less stims but hold more (i am not a medic so i dont really know how many a person needs to recover your health) and filled the remaining module slots with repair modules so the droid can heal itself as well. This is a good ranged combat droid, Attacks from a distance. The only problem they have is, that when the target gets to melee distance the droid is not as effective. But i believe this may be a bug, but not sure. Also, i believe that there is currently a bug in the guard command in probots that if it is guarding you and gets killed, it will become perminantly disabled. There was a patch yesterday so maybe this bug was corrected.
3. Another droid option is to have the MDE create a melee type droid, i use an r3 version because is holds 6 modules as well. Use the same configuration as above, but i dont know if the stim dispensor works at a distance, but i am sure someone else here does and will let you know. If it would not be effective, then replace the stim dispensor with a repair module for the droid.
That is what i would recommend, hope it helps

My sugestion would be this
Probot (5 modules+Armor)
- Combat Module
- Level 6 Med module
- (3) Auto Repair Modules
- Level 6 Droid Armor
Droid armor atm is broken current max armor is 10% protection. still if you got the droid above grouped with you will bring the CL up to your level which will help some.
Probots compared to R series droids fire faster and do more damage if im not mistaken. Do not get the stimpack dispencers those require a novice doc to load them up, where the Med module any medic can use and from what drask posted before if you can heal for 300 points the module increses it to 700, almost 150% increase not to shabby.

Probots used to fire like machine guns and do more damage, but no more.
Any combat-capable droid maxes out the same on damage-dealing and has the same ROF.

you sure on that i have not noticed a difference. but that may be because im using a pre publish 18 probot full of combat modules and i still see it hit pretty darn quick.
I use it all the time when i go on guild hunts against kryats and goraxes

Well, last time I tested it (about a week ago), my probot behaved just like all the other maxed out combat droids, ROF and damage. And it was made pre-pub 18, so...I dunno.
Believe me, I was really sad to see its ROF drop to 2 seconds instead of .75 seconds.
