I love droids. I am not necessarily a Droid Engineer but I love them non-the-less. I don't like using them for the many utilities they have but rather for their value as a pal. A buddy. A friend who does exactly what you tell him to simply because he's programmed to. The sad thing is this. I bought a new R5 droid today hoping t would be a loyal little mate. After using it for a small while I happened to examine it on accident when I noticed the battery life. After just fifteen minutes of use it sat at 60%. That's right, and yes you read that correctly. Now, perhaps someone who uses a droid simply for a medical use or other such utility can survive on producing a droid, recieving it's help and then stashing it away to save it's power, but I for one can't seem to use it for what I wish to, and that's as a pet. I know I can't be the only one that likes droids over flesh on this game, but that also goes beside the point. the point is the battery life on droids is extremely short lived. Not to mention the fact that the battery cost at the moment is high. theoretically with a good come home and play Galaxies night, I could be boying 5-7 batteries per playing period. I find this astounding. Its an outrage. I would never think that the focus of multiple publishes would be hurt by something so simple as this. I demand we stand behind each other and get this changed, because this low battery life is doing the opposite of what this publish meant to do, and that's make droids a large part of the Galaxies life.

I agree that battery life is too short, but one thing that can help offset it is if you don't really use it much for utilities the batteries don't matter much. It will still listen to the basic commands (follow, stay, store, etc)so you don't have to keep it constantly charged.

I also agree that battery life is too short...by an order of magnitude. Multiply it by 10 and it would be reasonable..actually the same is true of all colour customizations including vehicles..just an unwanted irritant.
Its also worth noting that crafting requires no batteries..but as to the new modules..do you Jenden or any other TC DE's have a list of what does and doesnt work in a power-loss situation? I ask because we DE's now cant use all our products.
Thanks

Then I guess the 'group' command is not basic, because when my droid is on low power and I tell him to 'group', it will give me an extra different colored 'low power' comment.

I agree these batteries either have to go or at least lengthen their duration. I guess the brilliant boys and girls designing this game think that batteries will be a worthwhile and significant source of renewable income for artisans...this just isnt the case, its just an annoyance. The same goes for the customization tools, if ya wanna make them necessary, fine, but legnthen their duration. This is getting a bit rediculous. Too bad these pleas fall on deaf ears

Question:
Are you batteries lasting for about an hour? That's what you should be seeing.
Battery life was changed from being about 20 min. to about 1 hour in Publish 7.
Let me know if you have solid data that this is not happening...

They are prolly lasting about 50 min to an hour, but even that is way to short man....its a battery, its not funding artisans all that much to sell these, make em last a few hours please

I don't think the stay command works without the droid being charged either. I know CraftyMouse likes to whine *low power* when I tell him to stay (Then the little bugger bites my ankles. The temper on that guy!)

Even though its giving you a "low power" response it should still be listening to what you say....I haven't my crafting r3 in months and it still stays/follows, etc.

Actually, at one point, I offered an idea. Have an "ADV DROID BATTERY" available to be built by Master DE's, or at least something like Blueprints 4. This baterry would be like the "Energizer" of the baterries. It would have ability to last about 8x longer than the Std Droid Baterries. It would require Type 7 Radioactive and a "Battery Regulator" component (would be needed to be added to the list. I suggest have this at Droid Techniques 3 or something).Overall Quality of the resource used and experimentation of the final assembly would determine the exact time it would last, and that time would be seen in the finished product examine window "Charge Time: XX:XX minutes/hours"
This foundation of programming could be used on other professions as well. Perhaps in the future they may create armor which has a type of shield effect. Armorsmiths could have an "Armor Shield Baterry" able to be created in this manor andinsertedinto the armor by drag & drop, or radial menu of the armor in the inventory window. Perhaps at some point they might add Energy Weapons which require a "Weapon Power Cell" to be used once in a while. This would work the same way.
I think this would be something worth adding and would definitely add some depth and room for expansion on its idea in the future.
TK, can you find out if something like this would be worthwhile? Are they looking at modifying the baterry use/time on droids, or adding something like I have suggested here? Thanks for your help Mr. Correspondent...

P.S. I would also change the now artisan item: "Droid Baterry" to "General Use Baterry." Then, if they ever do add the necessity of power cells for weapons or armor, this "General Use Baterry" can be used for Droids, Armor or Weapons, but with a lower charge time. Then the ADV ArmorPower Cell, ADV Droid Baterry and ADV Weapon Power Cell can be used in their respective recipients as the Super Power Source.

I'll check but I doubt it. We've seen most of the love we're gonna get for awhile. Maybe some small fixes here and there but don't expect a lot.
Right now, if batteries are actually broken we can get them in for a fix but I wouldn't have an ETA on that.
The droid batteries should be lasting for 1 hour exactly. If that doesn't seem to be the case, I need some hard numbers/data to put in front of the team to help them see what's happening (and find/fix faster).
I like general idea of a super-battery. I'm thinking it should require another profession part to make though (and some radioactive).
