I finally got around to making one of these ... just a mouse with two playback tracks.

Handed it to the musician, he teaches it a track (it doesn't learn flourishes, it saves instrument and song name, you must play for a specific amount of time to "finish" the recording). Seemed fine.

He then starts it playing .... it plays the basic tune it learnt. He starts playing (same song, different instrument), it stops. He stops, restarts the droid, then he starts playing, the droid stops.

He starts playing and then starts the droid, his instrument pauses for a moment, the droid plays a few notes, then the droid stops and the musician continues solo.

He tries playing the tune with the same instrument as the track on the droid. Not surprisingly, you simply hear that one instrument, i.e. you can't differentiate between musician and droid.

He tries playing a different tune than the playback recording, the behaviour is exactly the same, the droid stops when the musician starts.

We could not find any means of getting the droid to play WITH the musician. Has anyone made these work?
