Thread: Your average delivery time

Hi fellow DEs,

10 days ago I became a MDE.

While I try to stock my vendor with a variety of droids so I get some revenue from bypassers and show my skills, I try to keep my stock on finished droids and modules low. This is because there is still much room for improvement concerning resources and therefore module and chassis quality (and I am still sitting in front of a -13 Crafting Station - sic).

So when a customer asks me to make a droid (and I like those best who give me a brake from my DEs solitude ;-) I say: well, it will take up to 48 hours for delivery. They are often disappointed.

So, what delivery time can you usually provide?

BTW, your entertaining and knowledgeful posts helped me a lot while I was working on my DE skills and kept me going. Thank you all for this!

If I am online my DE and they want one. I tell them 5 minutes, I ususally have it done by the time they get to me. If I am not on my DE or got an e-mail, I put it on my vendor for them usually within a day.

well as a member of UPSa crafter delivery company on Intrepid i get thedroid to the customer ASAP (10 - 30 min from order time) you should see if your sever has a guild like UPS before i joind the guild i would just send them a tell and there would be a member there waiting to buy the droid and sell it to the customer.

I keep the most common componets stored in a droid so that i can produce a custom droid in about 30 minutes.

Before i had the resources i just kept up my Novice title so that i would not get tells. Rather not have to tell them anything then: "No sorry can not help you with that. "

depending on the modules, anywhere from 2-5 minutes. I keep pretty much all the sub components except entertainer effects, music, chassis, and frames on me, so for the entertainer droids it usually takes 5-6 minutes but everything else is closer to 2-3.

Don't worry about quality on your sub-components and chassis, it won't have any effect on your final droid.

My average tends to vary depending on how often I can get to my Live DE.

I have to end up using the factories / vendorsto get it done for me. I do have an order for 25 R-series droids that I really need to jump on..../sigh

Thanks for reminding me.

I always tell them 24 hours. But I am changing this...

I have started to Factory run complete chassis as much as possible and the modules.
I intend to shove them into a bag and carry them with me everywhere.

This way, I can kick back... rest on my laurels and put droids together on request.
I figured it will take me a couple of weeks to get it all down pat... but I really think in the long run it will be worth it.

Well, most of my 'orders' happen when im walking thru a starport with my MDE tag up. I carry a satchel that I call 'droid parts' and a pack that I call 'Active Resources' and can make them on the spot using my crafting droid.

Let's see my 'droid parts' pack is usually filled with about 18 crates of standard subcomponents (i think those cover everything you need to make any kind of droid) and my pack has 16 resources (steels, aluminum, copper, chemicals, gasses, gems) to make oddball modules that I don't have crated, like effect modules.

I can make a droid on the spot in about 2-5 minutes using up to 3 tools.

I actually get some good sales this way.

Forget about using the private crafting station. Switch you your droid. It will hands down give you a better quality product then such a low rated crafting station. That aside.

As soon as you can, try and get yourself a Factory or 2. Run them day and night so that you can produce all of the major subcomponents in crated form. IE - Brains, arms, frames, sensors, etc. Once you have a number of these crated items, either make factory runs of ADV chassis or hand craft yourself a few of each and place them in your droids storage. Finally, either hand craft or factory run a few of each of the best Level based modules you can craft along with crafting stations and other assorted modules. Once you do this, take some of those modules and place them into well labeled Cluster modules. This will get you set up for faster order response times.

Now to answer your question....

Typically I will have an order ready fora customer within 12 hours of order. Typically, I will have the order ready within the hour, if I'm puttering around my shop when the order comes in. If its a rush order, it usually takes me enough time to run out to my factories, which are located right behind the Guild hall, find what I need, and then run back inside, or 5 minutes, or what ever comes first.

Generally I have a healthy stock of chassis and modules laying around, so my turn-around time is usually 10 minutes from when i get the e-mail (if they catch me live, I have them e-mail me anyway to make sure I don't screw up the order).

Gosh, how stupid can one single DE be?! :-) I keep telling my customers about the 30% quality of the crafting stations but simply forgot to use my own "smithy". Now I understand his disappointed beeping ...

Thanks to you all for pointing out what I have to work towards to. Delivery times of 30 mins down to 5 mins are really great. Wow.

For me, logistics (where do I have which crate of items - if at all) is still the toughest part of being a DE.
