Thread: Please help -- Structure Maint Mods in Adv R3

OK -- this is a new one on me, and I've searched the forum but can find no mention of this, so it may be a new bug (or my search skills need some help).

Yesterday, I made 13 Adv. R3 droids (hand-crafted) with the following configuration:

Cluster 1: 110 Med Module/Lvl 6 Item Storage/Lvl 6 Data Storage

Cluster 2: Food crafting/Merchant Barker/Lvl 3 Structure Maintenance Module

Nine of these droids show all modules installed and functional. Four of them do NOT show the structure maintenance module installed. I can't say for sure, but it is possible that the 4 with Lvl 3 structure maintenance modules had hand-crafted (as opposed to factory crated) modules. I ran out of factory crated Lvl 3 modules at some point, but there is no way for me to know for sure which droids had which modules.

I thought maybe I'd made some stupid mistake in crafting -- my customer returned the 4 deeds that lacked the structure maintenance module, and I proceeded to craft up new droids. Made 4 sets of CCSC's exactly as above (8 CCSC's total). Each of the CCSC's showed the modules installed as described above.

When I put both clusters into an Adv. R3 chassis, the structure maintenance module "disappeared" (that is, did not show as installed).

For obvious reasons, I stopped crafting at that point.

Is there a known issue I've missed here? Is this a new bug? Is it just me??? (LOL) Any help would be appreciated. I have a very patient customer and I've refunded his money on the 4 droids that did not show the maintenance module, but I need to figure out how to replace them. And if this is a new bug, we need to get it fixed ASAP.

I've had this happen with all-crafting-med-storage R3's I build, but not the structure maintenance module. Sometimes a single crafting station (clothing, structure, etc) disappears. I hand build these droids too (maybe I shouldn't). I haven't found a solution, but I check all my hand-builts before placing them on a vendor now.

this is a known issue. structure maintenance modules often "get lost" during the final crafting stages of an advanced R3 droid. To the best of my knowledge no one has identified a pattern as to when it happens and when it doesn't. You can see that it has happenned though while crafting. If you double check the features of the droid in the crafting windows as you step through the crafting stages, you will be able to see where the structure maintenance rating disappears and will know that you've got a dud droid before you finish. That's a small consolation though.

My advice is to just tell customers you can't do an R3 with structure maintenance because it is bugged, unless you are willing to waste resources crafting multiple droids before you get one that "works".

That is the first time I've ever heard of this happenning with anything other than a structure maintenance module.

Sadly, this is a relatively recent bug that was introduced about 4-6 weeks ago. As yet it has not been listed on Gorantoth's bug list so I have added a little comment.

this bug has been there since the day the structure maintenance module was added to the game. structure maintenance modules in R3's have always been bugged. it's just a fairly random bug, so some people notice it later than others it seems.

I didn't know it isn't in the bug list. it should be added.

Well, personally, I have been crafting these into R3's since April and never had any problems up until I returned from holiday three weeks ago.

i understand. but you were lucky. my first R3 with structure maintenance module which I made on the day publish 8 went live had this bug. I'm not alone in that either, there were multiple discussions on this forum at that time about the bug and nobody was able to identify a pattern. it just sometimes doesn't work. not sure why it wasn't added to goranth's bug list though.

Thanks to everyone who's posted. Does anyone know if this problem occurs in any of the other astromechs? In other words, is this strictly an R3 problem? Or is a risk to put these in any astromech chassis?

not sure about that. the module itself is so buggy thatI only put them in mouse droids unless a customer specifically requests it to be put into a different chassis.

I am having this same problem. My original crated Level 3 Structure Maintenance Modules popped one day, and now have a structre maintenance rating of "0" (zero), they cannot be used. I can manually craft a maintenance module and it shows the correct rating of "14". I can even place this in a combat cluster without any problems, but as soon as I build the final droid (R3 Advanced), the maintenance rating vanishes.

*hugs*
