Well, I'm back. After a much needed break from the game, I am logging in to visit old friends and to get ready for the space expansion. That's the good news.

The bad news is that I've decided I'll be dropping DE soon. There is too much work involved to put out droids that are very complex and hard to sell at a good profit. So unless Jump To Lightspeed has amazing new stuff for DEs, I'm dropping the profession and moving on.

Speaking of, what is the word on what DEs have coming in JTL? I have read the stickies but could not find any sticky devoted to up-coming DE stuff in JTL. Please let an old-timer know what to expect.

Finally, ...drumroll... I am throwing my support behind the Droid Commander concept. I think in "real life" Star Wars, an MDE would be the ulitmate droid commander, but I realize this is a game and that there must be balance an that you can't have an elite crafting and an elite combat profession in one. So if Droid Commander means player-made and player-controlled droidekas, battle droids and super battle droids, then sign me up. There are lots of good Droid Commander ideas out there. Deloo's comes immediately to mind.

So there you have it. Please help with the JTL info.

Welcome back, man.....you've been missed.

For those unaware, Sodan is one of the DEs venerable and highly-knowledgable 'legends'.

Maybe you should wait to drop it until you find out what's there. The info should start to flow after a bit so you should have a better footing from which to make the call. I, for one, hope that you do see what's coming as a good thing and that you'll stick around...(but of course, I'm biased).

Yea, I think a lot of DEs are coming around to this. It's not what we'd prefer but it's really what kind of has to happen. What's key is getting the best new profession from it that we can (still awaiting the design doc thingie).

I do keep bringing this up since I want to be able to kick it about in the same way that the Smuggler Revamp stuff was getting batted about. Hopefully, it won't be too long after JTL that we'll see this discussion start in earnest.

So there you have it. Please help with the JTL info.

....nothing.

Good to have you back Sodan! Sometimes, a break every now and again is what we need. Hence why I'm building a commando on TestCenter. It's hard to have kept a profession for a year.

Agree, and if the Dark Side is the only side, than I'll hire Fu'bar to build Lord Vader a droideka.

Welcome back Sodan. Its good to see one of the brethren return to the fold, even if you are thinking about dropping DE soon.

As TK has stated, nothing really has been released on the roles that a DE, and droids in general, will play with JtL. People should also consider the part that we, and our creations, could play in the Combat Balance/Revamp. All 3 could have a very positive impact on our future. Unfortunatly, until the dust settles, we will have to wait a little bit of time to see how things will come out.Call me the an optimist, but Ifeel that some of the wait will be worth it.

i know this is redundent asI have talked to you in game but ill say it any how

Sodan Iamgald to see you back my friend .. as I said befor it would be a shame to lose one such as your self. You have been a valued asset to the DE comunity on Intreped, and here on the forums. If you do goI wish you the best of luck in your new indevors andHope you will keep in touch in game. My advice would be the same as the above posters you have been in it for this long why not wait tellJTL and see whats in store?

Thank you for the vote of confidence on the propsal Your input would be welcomed ..I have not lost hope that it can be something that we can happy with, butI have been worried that there has been so little intrest in it.

Thanks for all the well-wishes. I'm having fun playing again. And I'll wait to see what comes out of JTL before dropping DE. Unless its amazing over the top stuff, however, I think I'd have more fun roleplaying a musician. Fu'bar will make me all the droids I need at a guild discount! Presently I am excited to tinker with Entertainer droids and bomb droids.

As for the Droid Commander thing, I thing the Devs want better droids in the game, but they want them in a balances fashion. It is unfortunate that they didn't let us know that it was Droid Commander or nothing when it came to high end combat droids. If we had known, we might have come around to the idea, much as I have now and others have as well.
