Astromechs only take combat cluster...

only the BLL and the Surgical take generic ones

It can be confusing if you are trying to put non-combat modules into an R2/R3 droid. But you need to use the Combat Socket Cluster to hold the modules for those droids.

If you look at the requirements for each droid deed in your crafting tool, it will note if they take general or combat socket clusters.

For some reason the fact I took to the fact thatnon combat modules go in general socket clusters and any module can go in a combat one, along with putting them in the droid, almost instantly is making all these people look really dumb or me really smart..

Good rule of thumb:

If the schematic calls for General clusters or modules, use general clusters and non-combat modules.

If the schematic calls for Combat Clusters or modules, use combat clusters or ANY module.

(any module will fit in the creation of a combat cluster).

And don't feel bad about asking this. I believe I myself asked this very question not too long ago. It's a learning process for all of us.

If the droid can fight then you have to use a Combate CLuster. If it can't fight you have touse a General Cluster. I accually did a run of general clusters to put in an R2 when Droid Combate first went live, befor I found out they did not work in R2s so don't feel to bad.

Totally don't feel bad, this is a common problem.

Also something to point out, ignore what the schematic "says," put your mouse over the spot where the part goes, and it will tell you exactly what to put in there.
