Cert at master would be, you could make an IG-88 model or something similiar, you would then be able to use this, it would be non tradeable non buyable, only for master droid engineers. you would also have the optiion to do a /combat droid 1 (allowing you to keep your character in place, but you would then be able to "control" and move/attack as your combat droid. /discuss

Would be an interesting bonus. Not sure howmuch extraprogramming it would take, though I don't think it would be that much work to implement.
I'd simply love to see an IG-88 Chassis as an option for a combat or BH droid even.
Heck, IG-88 (the bounty hunter) was for a matter of a few seconds the most powerful bounty hunter in existence (according to the Bounty Hunter books anyway. He had downloaded himself into the main systems core of the Deathstar 2, and had realized just moments before it was blown that he had control over the entire thing and simply needed to use it. Started shutting down life support across the board when he realized that he had x1mil the effectiveness, effeciency, and accuracy of the biologics........... Good thing the Rebs in the power core were accurate!)

Personally I don't like the idea of more powerful combat droids. Personally I feel that droids should have strength in numbers, rather than in indivdual toughness / damage output. I'm sure that's not a popular view, but it's how I feel things should be. I think the area droids are lacking atm is utility.
I do however like your idea of directly controlling a droid - maybe MDE's should be able to craft a Droid Control Console - which that allows the user to directly take control of their droid - could make them useful for scouting etc...while you're sitting in camp getting your ham back you pull your droid out to go scout a new spawn of whatever you happen to be hunting...actually, that could be very useful when used in combination with the ranger Area Track skill.
Or a co-ordinated probot attack on Bestine / Anchorhead could be quite funny...5 or 6 (ah what the hell - make it 20
)people controlling probots send them into take out faction enemies. The only problem is, some sort of risk element would need to be introduced to the controller, not sure how you would handle that....maybe make "Droid Control Consoles" really expensive, and every time your droid is incapped there is a chance the Console blows up, causing you damage and forcing you to buy a new one...
Cheers
PS - Maybethe directly controlling droidsfeaturecould bean ability for the "Droid Commander" - would mark him out as diferentfrom a CH at least....

Does the Cert have to be a combat droid? Doesit even have to be a droid, why not a new module? I would love the idea ofa DE cert. Having it a combat droid would be great, but sadly i don't think this will ever happen . So why not somthing else like a module that gives huge bonuses to crafting or a 50 item storage module, another good idea would be a 7-9 module socket droid instead of the adv. r3 and the max of 6 modules, a slicing droid that gives that extra edge to smugglers.
Just my thought on this thread

an IG would be neat, even though technically its an imperial made droid and only a few exist, IG88 and about four or five others. technically the MDE's special schematic is the ADV R3, but thats an ADV model, the DE should be able to do a quest like the armoursmith does for RIS armour, except for maybe its adroideka schematic that requires some lootedmaterials, perhaps the ones from that aurillia place? Or the DE could AT LEAST be able to have two droids out, droids dont seem strong enough in my eyes to be of any extreme inbalance if a MDE can have two droids out regardless of what they can do..
"But the BE's dont get two pets out bwa bwa bwa whine whine"
Then let them have two non CH pets out at once!
"bwa bwa jedi will whine bwa bwa"
of course they will, they whine about everything new, this patch when the new BH stuff went in, their forum is full of..
THE DEVS HATE US!
threads.
Plus there is another thing I would like to see changed with droids, just a small tweak, change the non combat..
(protocoll, MSE, treadwell, BLL, Power droid, surgical droid)'s ham to be in proportion to the other droids than can fight,
So that peeps can actually use the power droid to keep their buddies' tank droids powered up in a place like the vette or DWB without taking aggro and getting killed in one hit before anyone has the oppurtunity to draw the aggro away, the power droid is SUPPOSED to be extremely well shielded to protect its power core.

I suggest staying away from the specific droid certification ideas, those got shot down around the beginning of this year. But as far as new droid chassis quests, keep them coming. Although from a continuity standpoint I do disagree with ever having more than 4 IG-88s in the game at one time.
So maybe a *similar* looking type would be interesting. Perhaps flag it as an item that is not allowed under the crackdown. Although I think they only scan things in your inventory, not things in your datapad. Hmmm..
