Thread: So data modules may finally have a use...
Message Edited by Jenden on 09-27-2004 07:07 AM
<Brekkee> *Ryk[Bria]* will current droids be compatible with these new commands, or will you nned to purchase a newly crafted one?
<Jfreeman> As long as it has a datapad, current droids will work.
And here is a link the the log:

The devs mentioned in the HOC chat tonight that droid Data modules would be required for space commands... so it looks like (from what they say) there's no new modules, but we will finally have a use for the data modules.
*Jenden-[Tarquinas]* We've been told that droids will be important to the operation of your ship, but will the quality and type be important or will just having a droid be good enough?
<Lord_Pall> So you'll need a number of things.
<Lord_Pall> You need a droid with a datapad.
<Lord_Pall> You need to program your droid with ship commands (reinforce front shields, overload reactor, etcetera)
<Lord_Pall> Then your droid can help out during spaceflight.
<Lord_Pall> There's a lot of programmable droid commands

Hmmm..../scratch head..../rips-off-Duct-Tape....
He's almost explained it right....but not quite.
- There are droid commands.
- Your droid can help you during spaceflight.
- You will end up programming ship commands.
- Will you need a "droid with a datapad"?? Hmmm....grrrr

/think WHY did they have to drop this on us out from under the NDA?!?!?! ![]()
Please realize, all, that this was a 'quick' answer and doesn't reflect the full situation that I will drop on you THE VERY MOMENT that I'm allowed.

Really? a certain source said that shipwrights make certain modules that the DE's put in their droids to enable them for spacecraft use.
I can only ever confirm/deny whatever a Dev has let loose on the public (if he talked about it in public, I'm guessing we're sorta cleared on that one TINY issue).
The great majority of what he gave above is valid, but....it's not...err...
The full answer.
Take that as you will.

/em runs and shuts off the the factories pumping out a gazillion Data 6 modules.
Now... we have your word on that, right TK?
Or should I turn my factories back on.... surely you can answerTHAT nowwithout violating the NDA (which has incidentally now beenviolated morethan a sheep in heat by a freezing lonely herder)
The only reason I have posted on this is that the Devs let this fly. While I want you all to have info, I don't break NDA.
I apologize for being vague. It's all I can be right now.
What Lord_Pall 'copped' to tonight:
- There are droid commands.
- Your droid can help you during spaceflight.
- You will end up programming ship commands.
- Will you need a "droid with a datapad"?? Hmmm....grrrr ( /shakefist @ NDA )

Hopefully a Dev will come by later and clear this up. In the meantime....
/emote ships TK a box of duct tape.
