Thread: The joys of being a Droid Engineer

As I said in my last post, I reactivated my account earlier this week after being gone from the game for probably 6 months or so (leaving mainly due to the fact that droids had no purpose, with no hope of getting purpose, and City of Heroes came out).

After kinda wanting to check out the game I used to love so much, but not being able to due to lack of job, on top of seeing that changes were made to droids, and watching the Star Wars Trilogy on DVD, and now being employed once again, I finally re-activated my account, and at least through the first week, I am definatley glad I did so.

I'm pretty happy with the changes at Droid Engineer. I was happy to come back and see the different modules I can make. I scrapped all my old, pointless, extra inventory only droids (except Fusion-III, my Droid Crafting Station droid) and replaced them with Speakerboxx, a music playback and effects droid, and Scout-I, a trap / harvestor droid. And then I still have trusty Fusion-III, the 3rd generation of my line of treadwel droid crafting droids.

Sure, my DZ-70 does crap for damage cuz I'm not at a level to build combat modules yet. But it can set traps and make it easier for me with my E-11 Rifle and Desert Eopie to do battle. Then it can harvest the flesh right off the chuba's bones.

My R5 recorder and effects unit gives me double the musician exp when I'm hanging out in the cantina relaxing after slaughtering some rebels. Plus, it's just generally kick ass to have a droid playing music alongside me while setting off bright lights and making me look that much cooler.

And when I get some extrusive ore, I'm looking forward to building a maintenence droid and rebuilding my (crappy) empire of houses and resource harvestors with my new droid in command of the maintenence.

I know there's probably a fair share of problems, and things that would still help to benefit this profession, but for someone who's been gone for so long, to come back to the game that I thought would never change, and finally see some positive changes, I'm definatley thrilled. I don't know how long my excitement will last, but for now I'm glad to be paying $15 a month again to experience this.

Now I just need to figure out what professions to master, and what to get rid of, cuz I only have 33 skill points left to distribute, and right now I am spread out between Droid Engineer, Creature Handler, Rifleman, and Musician.
