I have been away from SWG for awhile and I just reactivated my account. I have been a MM for a while...since the game began or well as long as it took me to get it once the game began. But I was wondering what is the deal with the new droids and musicians. I mean what are good ones to get and what do they do and what not. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance. Oh and another question I have since I have been away for a while what is the going rate for buffs? I use to just ask for tips when I buffed people but didn't know what the going rate now was. Thanks again.

Well there are 6 different effects you can get. You can put all 6 of them on an R3.Pretty much instead of costing you action to add pretty effects it cost you batteries... For muscian the playback mods are nifty. Good for those times when your out playing on an advanced planet by yourself or in a smaller group of MM's and you want to fill it out. And pretty much what you do with those is group with the droid then you equip what ever instrument you want the Droid to play. You click on the droid go to play back and hit the record option. Then you start playing what ever song it is you want it to play. Just the base no flourishes needed while recording.(not sure what happens if you do flourish while recording). It will give you a msg when it's done recording. Then you change instruments and you can either /startb (song) or play the recording from the droid then start playing yourself. And there you have an extra instrument playing... they take bandflos I tend to like to do the /b # instrument ones so that just the droid flourishes from it. You can have 6 of those on an R3 so your droid can know 6 different songs... it's pretty cool I think.
As for buffing... it all depends... but 5k-10k I think is the norm range.

Thanks for the answers.
I was also just wondering what else if anything has changed for musicians since I have been away. I haven't really been able to tell that much but didn't know if there were any musician missions (real missions not the stupid terminal ones) or anything that I didn't know about?

Nope nothing new from the missions. You can see a few threads about some new ones on the TestCenter but they seem to just be a step up from the newbie droid missions. So sadly right now they don't seem like much to get excited about.(but at least it's something) Umm what else... you can buff in 3:10 now. But it really burns the action...(see the how to buff threads) Umm apparently also the speakers and microphones in some places work .... I haven't tried them yet myself but I plan on playing with them later today.

also, beforewarned that one playback model will work for only one instrument and one song, so get an r3 with 6 if you expect to play different songs often.

I'm a rifleman/ranger who has never owned a droid. I'd like to know more about them. I have two questions:
Is there an online osurce that I can go to that explains all the different kinds of droids I can buy and what abilities they have?
Also, Is it possible to hav a droid as an additonal storage device? not for data, but for actual items

Absolutly, we've got a sticky at the top of the forum called the Droid Engineering 101 post. It's got everything you need to know from a DE's perspective and a customer's.

I have to let someone else answer a question from time to time.
BTW, check your PMs. I was going to reply to this thread after I sent you the PM.
