I made Master Driod Engineer a few days ago, but since there have been so many changes and a lot of things I was unable to make I decided to wait with putting up the title. Instead I just went on building and experimenting and of course making huge mistakes and blunders. But hey, we all do that at some point. Mistakes aside I am having a blast with this profession.
Today I was reasonably convinced that I could build a decent droid. I know experimenting is pointless, but I did it anyway. Then at the last stage of the building process I got hit by a moderate failure. That was kind of painful, using all my best stuff, and then a moderate failure. I ended up destroying the droid, because I felt I could not sell this one to a customer. After some talks with friendsd they suggested that I could have put it on the vendor, it still had reasonable stats (3700 ham on an R2 unit), and just sell it for less but let people know that it is a droid you failed on.
Should I really consider this as an valid option or shouldn't I bother with it? I know there are those who just begin and cannot realy afford to pay 50k for a droid. Then again, I much rather would store them and hand them out as freebies. Any opinions?
Another question is: Is a L4+L4 armorreally just as good as 1 L6 armor harness? And is stacking two L6 armor units simply a waste?
Also where can I find a list that shows all thecomponents which experimentation has no use at all. Or is any module or component that mentions "mechanical quality" a waste to experiment on?
If experimentation is pointless on said components, does that mean it matters little what kind of resources are used?
Are the Effect modules the only modules that require a combat cluster (other than combat modules like detonation), and is the rest indifferent or is there more I have to watch out for?
As for the structure maintenance module (though seems bugged now), I'm a bit confused whether it will be possible to do an interplanetair maintenance run or not.
Thanks!

Sure, I always put up experimentation failures on my vendor for a discount (generally named as such) and they tend to sell fairly well to people who just want to try the droid out but aren't sure if they want to get the full priced version.

Yes, Yes

Don't think there's a consolidated one, best bet is to either try them out for yourself or browse around on the forums here.

Resources don't matter on components that experimentation doesn't matter.

Any module will go in a combat cluster, you must use a combat cluster for most droids (everything but the surgical and BLL I think), so most of what you'll be using is combat clusters. The only actual modules that require combat clusters are combat modules, the rest will go in general clusters or general slots.

Yes, it should
Thanks!

And, ifeveryone understands my stand on "player conclusions" versus "developer validation" as applied to any "list" detailing itemsupon whichexperimentation and resource-Q have no bearing, I'll not"barge in"here.
