Thread: The New R-Series Droids Are Able To Use Numbers In Names NOW?!

First of all...thanks to all you DEs who answered my protocol chassis question (I now own two brand new 3PO droids...one silver and one purple 
).
).Now...I was wandering around Bestine on Naritus last night, and I came across a fellow guildmate who is a Master Musician,with a new R2 unit loaded with 5 entertainer modules and a bright green paintjob in tow. The sight of this normally wouldn't have even given me pause...considering how many R2s I made during my tenure as an MDE.
But what made me stop dead in my tracks was the name of the droid:
R2-K8 (a helper R2 unit)
It was named with actual number/letter combinations!
I asked him how he named his droid that way...and he stared at me blankly like I was an idiot. He then told me he didn't name it...he simply called the droid and that was the name that was on it.
Does this mean that DEs can now name deeds and they retain the name (like R2-D2, etc.) once they are tamed? I'm VERY interested to hear about this...

this is one of the helper droids they put in with the new player tutorial system. You still can't name a droid with numbers unfortunately...
