Thread: Message campain against Dev's

Here is an idea I just came up with sitting here. I am going to start a message campain against all the dev's (other then Vass, he was nice enough to respond) I am going to send a copy of my letter to them every day, untill things start happening, I urge you all to do the same. If we will their message box every day with the current state of the DE profession, there will come a point either through annoyence or they might start to read them, that they might just address our issues.

The only Dev so far to respond to anything i have sent was Vass. So he should merit immunity to this action.

So I ask that all the DE's who are just a little perturbed about their profession, start sending messages.

Thanks

They know the state of the DE class. They'll fix it. Flooding them with pointless emails won't help.

I am sorry but I disagree, They might have an idea that DE's are not to happy, but from the post that Q gave it is totaly obvious that they do not read these boards.

And even if they did read there messages, which they don't, I would have to agree with Vuri.

What did you just get done watching Shawshank? While it worked for him, it would not work in this situation. One reason is that THEY ARE ALREADY WORKING ON IT.

And you think they're going to magically take you serious because you annoying them by flooding their email? Let me put it another way. They may not actually *know* exactly what all the issues with the class is. The reason being that they aren't ready to fix it. Likely, they've just got so much on their plate at the moment that they haven't had the chance to get to use adequately. Doesn't make me happy, but flooding them isn't going to change their internal priorities. If it does, then guess what? All 33 classes will flood them expecting to get bumped up.

Just be patient. The class will get fixed. I took the DE path knowing all the issues/problems with it because I'm 100% confident that it will be a totally viable and fun class when the dust settles. I will agree that it appears that other classes are getting A LOT more attention than the DE's (ahem, Creature Handlers) but again, flooding them isn't the solution. The solution is to help our Correspondent present the pressing issues with well thought out solutions. And, with "well thoughtout", we have to take ALL classes into account. Suggesting that we make slider droids isn't fair for Smugglers as that's one of their few perks.

You just thought of being a spammer?

Tell me, how many spams have you responded to in the past year? Is your **edit** now 47 feet long? Are you a multi-millionaire, and have the lowest refinanced mortgage? Are you surrounded by p0rnstars?

Yeah.

A letter writing campaign is an eloquent way of saying "spamming," and it's even less effective.

Iagree that the best way to get the DE fixed is to find bugs and help present them, with reasonable soloutions to our CL who then gives them to the Dev's. And that spaming won't help any.

but isn't anyone else pissed off that it's up to US to find all the bugs in our broken class, and come up with the viable soloutins for them? I mean isn't that litereally THEIR JOB?we are customers, not co creators, if we're doing half the work why are we geting charged and the dev's getting paid? here's an other point, say you come up with a really really great idea, and it becomes a popular staple of the game, and perhapse ends up in an other game somewhere, that idea is Sony's intellectual property not yours, and as such they charge you for the use of your own idea. It's total BS, and it's time the (insert your nationality here) consumer woke up to the gigantic raping we're geting daily from SOE on this game, if we all had the strength of will to quit MMORPG's like this for even a month change would happen so fast it'd make your head spin!

I apologise for the name, I made it way back in week 2, when the CH's were insanely powerful, and as such the less savory people in the community all flocked to novice CH ('cus back then at novice you could control any pet, and they all got Rancors). Now the CH's fit very well into the overall system and as such the jerks and griefer's have moved on to bigger, better things. (Usually bounty hunting.)

The devs dont read the message boards much, when they do its because that thread is marked as interesting or 'reply to calm the masses'by a CSR or something.

A well done letter writeing campaign is not "spamming" I know who I am sending the letters to, and I have taken part of one that worked, dose anyone who lived in southern cali, remember Ugly Duckling Car Sales? (not sure if they were in any other state) I was in the letter campaign against them about the crap cars they sold. I got totaly swindeled by them, and I admit I was pretty stupid, when i went there in the first place. But look for them now, they are out of buisness. It was the hundreds of letters to the Better Buisness Bureau that got them investagated.

I also want to say that by no means do I think Sintrosi is dooing a bad job, I personally think she is dooing a great job, it just bugges the living hell out of me when i see everything she says getting seemingly ignored.

I am sure that they are "working" on some of the DE issues, but with that they should say something, keep us up to date with what is happening. They have the time to post in many other professions forums, why not ours.

Hmm, I should go watch shawshank redemption, been a while since I have seen it. hehee

Also thanks for stateing your opnions, I always want people to say what they want to say.

<<A well done letter writeing campaign is not "spamming" I know who I am sending the letters to, and I have taken part of one that worked,>>

A letter writing campaign in Real World, and one on the Internet are two very different beasts. Don't doubt for a moment that there are 1,000 immature people cut & pasting "You suxxors!" letters into 1,000 E-mails everyday to the Devs. Their mailboxes are already overflowing.

<<I am sure that they are "working" on some of the DE issues, but with that they should say something, keep us up to date with what is happening. They have the time to post in many other professions forums, why not ours.>>

While I *fully* agree that our class is broken, and feedback to us is less than other forums, I also recognize2 things that make a difference.

1. There are litterally hundreds of issues with the game, and the Devs can't concievably respond to all of thepeople withthem. Further, I don't think *they* know completely what they're going to do, so all we'd get is "We're working on it". Honestly, our proffession needs completely redone, and that's going to take time. It's not like Commandos where it's a number that needs changed, or CH's where it's just tweaking. Our class needs completely revamped to be viable. To do that requires extensive assessment before introducing potentially unbalancing changes. Which is probably what they're right in the middle of doing.

2. We don't have near the numbers that CH's and Commando's have, mostly because our class is horribly underpowered, and therefore don't make anywhere near as much noise

So, we don't attract as much attention.

Our proffession will eventually get fixed and it's power boosted. Yes, I'd like them to post in here too, but I don't think there's any constructive way to convince the Dev's to give us a heads up atm. Mainly because we're such a small voice amidst a much larger portion of the Player base, and their going to devote their communication time to the largest percentage of people.

Ignore the handle, I am Gatt on Vnboards.

Another thing to realize, in the devs defense, is that there are 33 professions. That makes 33 boards that I'm sure are all demanding that the devs read and respond to. While I'd love to have the devs read our posts and comment, the truth is, there is simply no way they can. I currently only monitor 2 forums of all the forums on this site (Kauri and DE) and it takes up hours of my day. Multiply that by the 33 professions and the however many galaxies AND the ridiculously overposted in SWG General forum and there is just no way to read/respond to everything. They'll start reading and responding in our forum when they're ready to fix our problems.

I'm not saying that its OK that they push us off, I'm just saying that bitching about it does nothing but increase the noise ratio of the already busy boards. Let show a little patience and maturity when dealing with them and we will get our dues, I'm sure.

They "hired" me to ensure that I pass on the ideas and issues. I would much have them working on trying to impliment our suggestions and fix bugs than to 1.) Read constant spam and 2.) come here and read all the posts.

I send them several emails a day and most of them get answered promptly. I have accessto their "private" SOE email addresses. They are aware of the issues and they are aware of our gripes and concerns.

Yes -- we are one of 33 professions. It will take time. But please be aware that I feel just about the same and I let them know.

I sit here at work and read every post in the DE forum, as well as a few others that pertain to my other toons. If I have nothing to do at work it easily takes an entire eight hour day from me just to stay on top of all the posts. And that is only four forums. If you think Q3PO's job is merely to read and answer the forums you are mistaken, nor any DEV for that matter. That is why they are hiring someone to do that fulltime because it is impossible to do when you have other job responsibilities. Until that person is hired do not expect anything other than what we have now.

Due to the feedback I do get, and the amount of posts Holocron and Q do make ... jesus I am surprised they answer as much as they do. (Read the Dev tracker if you have any doubt.)

I understand it is human nature to think that our problems are the number one issues and should be addressed as well, but realistically while we do matter the SWG universe does not rotate around us and there are 32 other professions that are crying as loud as we are.
