Thread: So should I never buy a droid from you guys again?

This is fuggen stupid. I spend 27K on an LE Repair Droid with Medical and Data and Storage Modules.

I get attacked by Mummers or some other thing in Moenia and they not only go after me, but two of 'em start on my droid. By the time I get one thug dead, my new droid is running away and get's two-shot killed by a thug. I lose my droid, the food in storage, and 27k. The thing is gone forever.

If I have a pet out and something attacks me, they don't go after my pet and my pet doesn't do nothing unless I tell it to.

I'm never buying another droid again until they change this. Maybe you want to bug the dev's with respect to this.

The stupid LE droid can't even be taught to attack. Don't you think it would have like AR4 and 10K HAM at least?

Well, here is the thing. EverytimeI sell a droid that is not built for combat(surgical, repair, ect) I say, "do not use your droid in any combat situations, its not a fighting droid". The response I get everytime is "I know". I say it anyway, because of cases like these, if a person is running around with their pet out with red hard mobs around them and their pet isnt a combat droid its their fault for not storing them, not the DEs fault for selling it to you. Now had you been sitting in a camp you just built and reds spawned on top of you while you had your droid out to make stimpacks or something then I might have taken that into consideration and replaced the droid, but not running wildly through dangerous areas with the droid out. Then agian I would never sell a LE repair droid for 27k, thats really high in my book.

As for the permadeath and the rest of your post, Mosati summed up my feelings well.

Mosati said it all. Our profession is broken, our goods are useful only in certain situations. You knew about Droid Perma-Death, you knew that the Repair Droid was not meant for combat. Yet still you took it into a dangerous situation.

It sucks, sure, but that's what the Devs give us.

As Sigma said, why did you have a non-combat bot out in an aggro area?

Sorry, but if your dumb enough not to take care of your possessions, they will get broken

Droid death is good compared to how it was. But the ridiculous low ham bars combined with droid death is bad.

Droids should suffer permanent damage (about 10%) when incapped, but not be destroyed. Once they take enough incaps, they'll be useless and it'll be time to buy another droid.

Thanks Sin.

We need to have some sort of threat order (or fix the existing rules)that mobs use to determine who to attack. Non-Combat Droids should get a 0. In some situations, a med droid could get attacked if having it out presents a threat due to the healing ability it grants it's owner.

It would still suck to have that 40K Cred / 40 HAM high-end surgical droid attacked, but if you're going to use it aggressively, expect it.

Smart mobs could also go after a CH before the pet. They might realize that they have no chance against a Doc/CH's pet who has a continuous supply of heals.

Wow

I had no idea a little venting could go such a long way. I'm going to have to hang out with some guild mates to keep my ego in check now.... shouldn't be hard, got a sarcastic Zabrak to the left of me and a cynical Twilek to the right with a realist as a boss, no ego withstands first contact

Why don't you /bug it? We've been sending in /bugs every day and we haven't been listened to yet? We've begged, pleaded, threatened, offered upour first borns and all we've gotten is assurances from the Devs that they care.

Some droids are not combat orientated at all, we've got very few combat droids, (it's a major complaint,) and most ofthose combat droidsget ripped apart by a Rill let alone a Cu Pa, (again thanks to the Devs,) now if the Devs won't increasecombat droidstats to keep them alive, why would they do the sensible thing andimprove the non-combat droids?

Hostiles targetting our droids before us or at the same time as us is a bug, but since the devs all play Creature Handlers and actually respond to the Creature Handler forum, (where as they ignore this one,) and the bug doesn't effect them, it doesn't get high on their list of daily hot fixes, (where as all CH problems seem to do.) Not being able to remove items from our dead droids which perma-die at incap where as CH pets live forever is also believed to be a bug, though we're not sure, the Devs haven't answered that question either.

Now tonight alone I had one Bounty Hunter devote 20 minutes of his time and mine in a rant when I couldn't lower my seeker price below 800c, which isbarely above cost for me. He was really good, honest, he came up with several rather descriptive suggestions for physically and anatomically impossible acts I could attempt. Another person spent several minutes screaming that I was selling defective merchandise at the top of his lungs while I attempted to ply my meager trade because he released his droid because he wasn't bloody well paying attention to what he was doing.

Now my entire reply has been filled with sarcasm and thinly veiled contempt for pretty much the entire profession. I go through this every single day, getting it on the boards doesn't make me any happier. I'm a D.E., a Dead Ender, not a Droid Engineer as I originally thought that meant. I know I'm not alone in my frustration because I regularly talk to 2 other DE's on Starsider and they get the same flak daily, just as I. Every profession in the game has so far gotten more Dev attention than us. Want your droid problem attended to, send an e-mail to the Devs, maybe you'll have more luck than us. Now I do sympathize with you, I myself lost a crafting droid tonight to a Mummers Thug in Moenia. Can I fix it, nope. Do I wish I could, hell yes.

Every day we hope to get the same attention that Creature Handlers get, hell I'd settle for Commando or even Chef level attention from the Devs at this point. I think we currently hold the record for the most bugs and the most nerfs than any other profession. The two times we had somthing that made our stuff popular one ended up being a bug and the other caused CH's to complain that we were too powerful.... I remember seeing thatcomment spoken in game by a CH with 3 rancors....note the irony?

I spent time with a CH several weeks ago when we were both at novice, nice guy. We raced to see who could advance to the next skill box. I burned 60K credits worth of resources like a mad man to get to the next box, in that time he'd already gotten about a quarter of the way into his second box, paid for his skill training from hides he'd harvested and still made a 7K profit. What did I get, to pay out of my pocket for training and was rewarded with theschematic for theillustrious Advanced MSE droid.

Wow, I haven't ranted like this in months, haven't felt this good in months. Hope this answers your questions

Mosati, your rant needs to be placed on every other professions board. You nailed it on the nose. If only all the other classes read this rant; they wouldnt be complaining so much!

I want to clarify my situation. Maybe you can see why I was so pissed.

I am at the shuttleport in Moenia and just missed the god damned shuttle (we all know how much 'fun' that is. In fact I noted to a bystander that the shuttle situation is one reason I might quit the game). Anyway back on topic. I had my trusty companion beside me with his medical module installed and I started healing some wounds. 'Gee, droids are great. More people should have them'.

Well, shuttle waiting boredom sets in and I figure I can browse the **edit** bazaar while waiting for the **edit** shuttle. Without a thought I do a /find and get a path to a bazaar terminal in town. Off I go to fill up some of my dev-enforced downtime.

40 steps from the shuttle platform I get gang attacked by GREEN CON thugs. This is on my stroll from the shuttleport to what eventually turned out to be the bank. You know the rest of the story. It takes me two shots or so to kill the one on me and I notice my close-to-30K droid is running away like a sissy fearing for his life. By the time I catch up to him, he's dead on the floor along with whatever I put in his glovebox.

I'm pissed off. I'm pissed at the game. I have no use for droids anymore. I come to your forum and bitch.

No attacks at you guys. I think you got that much from my post. I'm just pissed at the game. This situation was wrong. I was sitting waiting for a shuttle and decided to use the bazaar and lost 30k credits worth of supposed 'trusty companion'.

Don't tell me, I'm not supposed to have my droid out waiting for a shuttle or that he can't accompany me as I conduct my business in town. That's utter bull**edit** and I think you all understand that.

I had nothing to do but look at his corpse decay. No way to pick up his broken parts and bring him back to his creator to have him put together. Nothing.

On a side note, I probably wouldn't buy another one of them talking droids as I find it stupid that I can give a name to a Probot, but not a more sophisticated droid. I wouldn't even care if the game generated a random name for him ("LE-87D" for example). But 'an LE repair droid' is unacceptable in an RPG for me.

I really feel for you guys. I have so much fun with my animals finding unique ones and bonding with them and discovering their talents and personalities. Regardless of the character or skill 'power', something about droids just doesn't 'feel' right. Someone asked me before I lost him 'what does your LE Repair droid' do? I was sorry to have to say 'basically the same as every other droid in the game. just depends on the modules'. What a horrible mistake it was to have an MSE droid potentially have the same capabilities as the Protocol Droid. Finally, it was a shame to never hear him speak after spending so long picking which personality give him. The **edit** NPC's in Anchorhead were more talkative than he was.

I guess you don't get much ranting from customers on these boards.
