Thread: Looking to place an order for droids Kettemoor

I am looking to place an order for 3-4 droids, specifically some of the more advanced ones that are only made byhigh-level Droid Engineers (advanced R2, for example). I know exactly what I need and would like these made-to-order. Since most of these are advanced droids, I am looking fora Master Droid Engineer to accomplish this to avoid trying to arrange this with multiple sellers. (NOTE: I would prefer a Master DE's services, but if you are experienced enough and/or close to Master and can fulfill my requirements, you are more than welcome to inquire about the job. I will refer specifically to Master DEs in this post but keep this in mind.)

Now, before anyone starts posting “Go to this person’s vendor at X,X” or similar leads, I must say this – I have spent much time and money recently traveling to different planets to check outsome of the sellers listed on these boards and others I have heard of within the game. I am tired of spending my money to get to the planet to run the marathon to their establishment, avoiding all aggros that seem to have spawned around it, only to find: a) they are on vacation/away/offline and have no vendor, b) their vendor is empty, c) their vendor has nothing I need or want (i.e. not advanced enough, wrong model), or d) any combination of the above.

Also, although I appreciate recommendations, asking me to “Look for so-and-so here” or “Just /tell this person” does me little good, from what I have found. No one stays in one place long enough to find them and as for /tells, many crafters are either too busy to answer or just ignore them now. A lot of them use/afk repliesthat ask youto go to their vendor - see above, I don't want to go through that further.

Example of things recently: I was in the middle of a transaction with someone recently and they just stopped responding as we discussed terms…no “Hold, please”, no “I’ll be right back”…nothing. They didn’t go offline, I was nearby and looked for and eventually found them conducting business with someone else in person. That's like hitting the hold button on your phone to talk to someone in your office without telling the person on the other end. I call that poor customer service - see if they get my business. I have also placed orders recently (not just for droids) only to have the person vanish for no reason and/or not respond to emails. FYI: A little communication goes a long way to retaining customers...but I digress!

Back to the business at hand...I am looking for direct contact with a Master DE and/or their representative/merchant front to place this order. If you are a Master DE (or high-level DE, see first paragraph) looking for a good paying job, please contact me via email here or IG, or post here that we may discuss my requirements, your cost of the production, any resources required, and the timeline of production fromstart to finish. I can provide some resources and am willing to travel to pick up the items. This could become a productive business arrangement for both sides with future orders for more droids should this transaction be completed successfully and I am happy with the work (as with any business transaction, here or RL – treat me right and I’ll keep coming back).

I will also be posting this on the Kettemoor galaxy forum.

Thank you for your time,

I think this is just as you state, a problem of some people not knowing how to run a business. They know how to powerskill, and are masters, but not how to actually conduct business.

I am already leaning heavily on the in game e-mail. I'd suggest that as well. it leaves things not so in your face if you don't need it immediately.

Hope you have better luck soon.

BerentD: Don't hold your breath.

DEs: What's the deal with you guys?

Now that the patch has at least partially resolved the storage issues, I want to buy a droid. I actually want to buy two or three. But everytime I run across a DE, you're rude or unresponsive. Every time I visit a vendor, there's nothing there. And hardly anyone answers non-DE posts in these forums (which is why I wouldn't hold your breath BerentD). I don't get this from armorsmiths or weaponsmiths, who are busy and sought-after. Why from you guys? I know it's tough now, but don't abuse the few dummies who will still buy from you because of it.

They'll fix droids, and when it does those of you who start building a reputation now will benefit then. Don't you want to build some kind of a loyal customer base? Don't you want fans spreading your name across the galaxy as the best, droid maker around with the best service and the best prices?

If I were you and I really wanted to make droids, I'd be out there promoting the heck out of myself, giving away free low-level droids ... giving customers big discounts to entice them to return to you when droids are actually useful ... giving customers free upgrades ... doing SOMETHING to generate customer interest. And that STARTS by answering questions and taking the time to talk with one person at a time.

SneakyBothan,

Yes I agree 100%. The challenge as I see it is that there will not be as many DEs as Wep / armor smiths, so if I can skill up and build a business then when the time comes the return will come. That's actually the fun part I hope!

There will always be poor business people in game as in real life. Merchant skill tree is going to take me out of music most likely because I see it as necessary to run a top notch business. Time will tell.

Yeah, Hi

I am almost a master DE on Kettemor. You wanna know why we are rude or unresponsive?

Droids suck, people dont wanna pay for all the hard work amd resources I put into them, and when I do sell one, the person is too dumb to find some instructions for the dam thing and I spend all day training them just to have the dam thing get released or permadie.

Armorsmiths, Weaponsmiths, etc actually make money!!!!! Can ya believe it?!?!

Sorry, I'm a little bitter about our whole situation, so don't come onto the DE boards whinin bout service.

Hmm I sell my droids at reasonable prices and I make money. Must be doing something wrong here.

g0tr4ng3,

I did not come here to flame anyone or complain about service. In fact, I'm trying desperately to find ANYONE to provide this service and fill an order. If that's not you, then fine, but Isimply a) asked for someone to provide a service and offered topay for it,and b) merely gave my recent problems/experiences with finding someone to fufill my request, which happened to include some poor customer service (the person I spoke of was an ARCHITECT btw, not a DE, it was just used as an example of my frustration recently). This is not a thread for complaining about customer service, regardless of any points I made, nor ranting how DEs are so screwed - please find any of the 20,000 other threads on that topic to do this. If you are not happy as a DE, maybe you should change professions.

Still looking and hoping....

I'm sorry to hear you've had such a bad experience with DE's - Send me a tell in game (( Ravenlock )) and we can discuss things.

A reason alot of DE's don't stock their droids is that almost every customer wants a differently customized droid. Some want a probot with a structure crafting droid while others may want a R3 droid with food/chem - it gets expensive for us to try and stock multiple combinations of each. I have about 5 on my vendor right now with more on the way. I'm currently online and will be glad to help out.

Right now, just fyi, I'm not producing seekers or arkyd's (sp?) - My GP/Memory module supply is low and my bugged factory is currently working on grinding some out.

My shop is located east of Theed on Naboo. Coords are: -3867, 4635

Email me in game and I can send you a waypoint. Customer service comes first, droids come second.

I'm thinking your problem is that their are too few droid engineers (well I wonder why) and too many people who want droids. You've got to understand that 1 or 2 droid orders can pretty much destroy a DEs entire game time for that day. So when we get a 5th person talking to us... cordial conversation flies out the window.

And you know what? Email them. /telling is a actually a very rude thing to do to a DE. After 1 tell (maybe "Is it possible for you to make this kind of thing") send en email about what you want and give them time. Going around using search forDE after DE won't get you anywhere; find one, email him, and be patient.

I'm thinking 'Hold please' wasn't meant to be rude, but it meant talk to me another time cause I'm having fun and I don't want to please your beckon call.

DipNSniff,

I never /tell a DE anymore, I always email. I learned my lessonabout a weekago on that. Those were past experiences I had trying to get items purchased in the past. I've gotten very few responses to my emails other than waypoints or no answer at all. Occasionally I get a "you'll have to wait a while", which to me is too vague - wait a day or two weeks?

As for the "Hold please", the person never said it -check my comments. They merely went about their business as I tried to purchase a house from them, ignoring my /replies after THEY had begun the conversation - I emailed them first and they droppedME a /tell. Guess my money wasn't good enough for them, who knows. I was even asking about buying a large house - making 125K obviously wasn't on their mind I guess....

So what you're telling me that every DE on the server is swamped even though all I hear is "we can't make anything useful" and "no one is buying anything" from these boards? I'm confused...

Yeah, it's kinda like that

Everyone who is a near Masteris swamped (although swamped means a whole different thingfor a Droid Engineer, an architect can get your house when resources come in whereas a Droid Engineer needs to get a lot of resources and then spend a long time actually making the droid). The thing is, there are few near Masters (as you are finding out ) and the people who are progressing at a more than steady pace get little business.

So... yeah I guess good luck They aren't swamped because everyone wants a useless droid, but it's because adozen/3500 people want a useless droid fromthe couple [high level] DEs. So you are in one boat or the other... you are low level and can't make anything someone would want, or you're high level and people are getting ticked at you.

Just as an example, an Advanced R2 with a Clothing and armor module would take almost 2 mastered tress (which takes a loooooooooong time). If you want a structure module that's the master of a whole other tree. I guess I don't know how to help you out... I'd say justsettle for a non-perfect droid from your nearest Novice DE and wait for them to level up to better ones
