I tried this last night with some storage modules...I used exclusively level 3 item storage modules and found:

1 module ="Storage rating"of 5 = 4 items (MSE)
2 modules = "Storage rating" of 10 = 8 items (adv. MSE)
3 modules = "Storage rating" of 15 = 10 items (adv. R4)

And with L2 item storagem odules

1 module = "Storage rating" of 3= 2 items (MSE)
2 modules= "Storage rating" of 6= 4 items (adv. MSE)
3 modules = "Storage rating" of 9= 8 items (adv. R4)

So in the case of the level 3, the growth is non-linear, but in the case of the level 2 modules, the growth is exponential.

Basically it makes no sense, and the storage rating has nothing to do with it.

1 Medical Lvl2 module = 65 rating
2 Medical Lvl2 modules = 75 rating

On sotrage modules the cap is 10 items total..

so from what little data you have what i can extrploate the formula as
max(10,2^(Storage Rating/3 rounded up))

is probly simpler then that but without more data not sure..

I am seeing claims regarding the data modules stack in a "non-linerar" manner (one module = 1 data slot, two modules = 10 data slots, five modules = 150 data slots). I was thinking there has got to be a basic formula that is used to determine overall capacity relative to the number of modules used.

I would also like to see this information for the other module types as well. I read somewhere that two level 4 armor modules are equivalent to one level 6? What about medical modules? Storage?

Could someone please provide the data on the stacking of the various types of modules?
