Thread: Surgical/Med Droids an idea...

Just an idea from a non-DE for medical droids:

What about having surgical/med droids be able to auto heal wounds/damage, but only if you have them 'loaded' with the appropriate stims to do so?

Higher level droids would be able to use higher level stims etc... so, cheapie little mouse droid can only take 3 stimpack a and use em at 60% effectiveness in the field, higher in camp maybe, whereas the highest level advanced surgical droid could be capable of using stim d for 50-60% effectiveness in the field maybe aand perhaps it goes up to 80 - 100% in a camp?

Just an idea.

p.s.

my 2 cents on the hot issues ive read about here:

What kind of droids would you like to see become available?

- well... all of 'em. battle droids, droideka, those slick silver 3po-ish bug-headed dudes the empire had, ig88 type droids, repair droids (a la Ep1) - all of em.

Perma death?

-seems a little out of whack. poor c3po wouldn'tve made it out of cloud city under SWG rules. R2D2 surely wouldn'tve made it any further than the trench run in ep4 either huh? In both cases it seemed a fairly routine, easy task to repair a pretty well smashed up droid... I mean, make it cost, or make it to where you have to salvage parts or something, but it doesn't seem quite right to me for em to just completely die... Don't get me wrong i'm all for a penalty of some sort - i'd just like to be able to keep my droid...

It seems, as far as droids are concerned at least, the fixes seem to be from one extreme to the other...

droid life/maintenance goes from little or no maintenance to - pow - ok it's dead forever..

probot goes from being too strong (and I fully agree that it was) to pretty much a joke. One could argue fairly easily that a probot full well ought to be a joke (weak) combatant but as the game stands -at this point at least -it's pretty much the only droid out there that serves much of a worthwhile purpose.

I'd buy more droids (I just like em) if I could even remotely justify the cost with some sort of real benefit. I'd like to see droids all over the place, I definitely think they should outnumber pets (which is far from the case). The reason why? Well pets are useful. Droids, sadly, are not.

I'm all for compensating the CH folks by allowing everybody own a lower level pet - fine CH should be able to profit from their skill. But at the same time, I believe droids are just more fun in general (personally at least) and a bit more 'star warsy' (can't believe i just said 'star warsy'). As such I think it would be equally cool to take a similar measure for the DEs and release some new schematics or if nothing else, provide the current droids with some purpose... I mean a protocol droid is neat, but WHAT does it do for you?

Have em greet people at your house, have em run your harvesters, have em just talk all the time - just have useful for something other than a +15% health mod (ooo that's fun) or something to stick a few items into (just to be lost when he's killed and perma dead).

To me, the droid class offers the potential to provide one of the neatest aspects of the game environment. I look forward to seeing a great deal of progress (which is surely on it's way) with this class.

Initially however, it seems like some middle ground in both the effectiveness as well as the maintenance upkeep would address a lot of the more serious issues with the profession.

The real irony is that CH in general didn't want this.

hehe, no, i don't expect CH wanted it at all... a lot harder to make a quick 50k on a rancor or gurreck now that nobody can use em. the point is you guys still have a far more valuable commodity. a good level 15 creature is still a lot better in a scuffle than those poor probots -and they don't die.
