Thread: How much should I be paying for a fully optioned Adv.R2 droid?
Advanced R2
- food/crafting module
- medical VI module
- armor VI module
How much should I be paying for that? (Scylla server)
How about with the following extra modules (I know they are bugged, buthopefully fixed soon)
- data VI module
- storage VI module
?
Also, it seems that the R3 is a superior droid to the R2 because it requires master level to create.. but so far feedback seems to favour the R2 models for their superior pathing and movement.
Comments appreciated.
Firstly, I sell that exact same droid for 20k no problem, thinking of raising prices.
Secondly, the storage and data modules work fine, and are no longer bugged after the large patch of 8-13
If i was to add data, medical, and storage, i would charge an extra 2k, just because of the rare resources required for level VI

Well, I'd advise a few things. First, you could save some money with buying a lower level armor. I mean, if someone with PvP attacks your droid, it's dead anyway...it doesn't matter...no droid can withstand another PC player for more than one or two shots. In the wild it should be safe as well as most creatures will not attack it (unless you're overt or something I suppose).
Anyway, my point is that you could buy an R2 with two level-4 medical modules (two 4s = a 6), a level 4 armor module and a food crafting station and save yourself money.
I use clusters and totally load up an R2 with just about everything I can think of, and don't see any reason to sell for more than about 15k. It doesn't use that many resources and isn't terribly hard to craft *Shrug*
Advanced R2 - 20000c
- food/crafting module - FREE
- medical VI module - 6000c
- armor VI module-10000c
TOTAL 36000c
- data VI module 6000c
- storage VI module 8000c
GRAND TOTAL 50000c
People selling these much less than this just haven't had enough encounters with that wonderful phrace 'Critical Failure' yet to realize how much they need to charge.
p.s. You could always have a Master Droid Engineer put all of those modules into an MSE Mouse Droid (yes... just 1 mouse droid can hold them all) and save yourself a good bit of money ![]()
50,000?!?!
Good lord man, what do you spend all your money on? I charge 1/5 of what I see posted in this forum yet I have almost half a million credits stacked up...lol.
Hell, even if you failed 5 times on an R2, 50k would still be an amazing profilt.

You might want to check your crafting tool efficiantcy. I worked hard to get my tools to +6.5 and above.
After i starting using these tools my crit seem much lower.
Oh 15k to low for the factory cost and rare ore need to make R2's...my average cost is 20k for r2.....with med 6 i charge about 25k.
Well... I only make custom ordered droids. With so much variety available at Master level, it's virtually impossible to pre-make any and just keep them in stock. I actually get very few orders for the higher level droids because I explain to all of my customers that functionality is exactly the same... regardless of the droid type. I do make most of the sub-components ahead of time in factory crates... but even that. I will break down for you the making of this droid and why I think those charges are justified.

* - Made ahead of time in factory crates
Now... considering that if made from scratch you have 13 separate combines each with a chance of failing... you must use at least 17 items which have been made in a factory... you must keep in stock the enormous variety of resources required.... and there is always that chance (around 10%) that you can fail your final combine... it would take around 30 minutes to create this particular Advanced R2 unit. Throw in the time required to actually obtain the various resources... time and expense requried for the necessary factory runs... time and expense required to obtain the Composite Armor Segment... time and expense required to have obtained the ability to craft this droid.... and I honestly think my prices are very in-line with what one can expect to earn otherwise in this game for a simliar amount of time invested.
It is my time and abilities (mostly time)required that I generally cosider when establishing prices for various droids. Not to mention, I am usually earning credits otherwise running missions and such (you really outta get some pets... they are fantastic) and have to interrupt that to craft the droid, then return to my house to place it for sale on my vendor. If you compare the amount of time it takes to earn 50000c otherwise in this game... you'll actually find my prices a little low. ![]()
My prices are along the same line as Jabetha's with similar thoughts on time invested, factory produced itemsand materials used.
50k isvery reasonable toproduce these droids.
1) What does the different between a level 1 thru level 6 module provide for me?
2) For a higher level module, say level 6, is it worth selling/paying for the difference in costs and resources?
I can make an advanced R2 loaded up with low level modules and armor, for some very basic resources. I sell for 20k.
If I COULD make one with level 6 armor, especially the level 6 modules with the resources you listed above, I would sell it for possibly 50k as well! Why? look at all the rare resources you need. MANY other people are out there trying to get the same ones, and some servers may not have had one of those resources yet.
A customer may not understand this, and think the DE charging 50k is trying to rip them off when they go someplace else and can get 20k. Will the customer think the price is worth it?
We will see. If the customer does not, then I would just sell the resources and make more money if I need some credits or profits! Then hang on to enough to do customer orders exactly the way Jabetha is doing.
"You might want to check your crafting tool efficiantcy. I worked hard to get my tools to +6.5 and above.
After i starting using these tools my crit seem much lower."
Well... I experimented all of my crafting tools up to 98% and they have a tool effectiveness of 14.49 (exactly what is this supposed to effect anyways?). The only change in critical failure rates I have noticed was several weeks ago when after a patch they seemed to double from around 5% to 10%.
Thanks for everyone's comments.
I can see Jabetha's point about the time + materials real cost of creating a droid. I'm just thinking that if your average destroy mission on Corellia/Naboo/Rori etc. is ~700 credits... you'd need to do 70 missions to make 50K credits. At approx. 10 min per pair of missions, that's 350 minutes, or6 hours of combat missions to earn 50K
Clearly, your average casual player is going to be hard pressed to buy/maintain armor (30K for chitin?), buy a house (10K for small?), buy two decent weapons (15K each?) etc. as well as save up for such a droid.
So maybe the more basic droids are pitched at this crowd.. and the Adv.R2 that I mentioned above is pitched at the more accomplished crowd. Let's say you join a group that can turn over missions on Dath/Dant... say 10000 credit missions. To get the 100000 credits, a 4-man group would have to each do a mission. Say 10 min per mission, 40 minutes for the group to all do missions and you get 10000. That's4 hours. Of course you get much better weapon/medical/creature/etc XP as a bonus.
So 4 hours of effort to get that droid at 50K is a bit more reasonable... as long as your droid doesnt get destroyed! Or lost in your backpack! Or bugged to death!
On the other hand, an accomplished droid engineer should have economies of scale right? They've set up harvesters, or bought large volumes of required resources, or used factories to mass-produce components to reduce critical failures.
I'm thinking that given the perma-death aspects of droids, bugs, decay... that 50K, while reasonable for the high end player... is going to result in a better profit but a reduced turnover.
Do you want to sell5 droids at 50K and make 250K?
Or do you want to sell 20 droids at 25K and make 500K?
I suppose the answer lies in economies of scale as mentioned above.
Question: somebody mentioned that medical modules "stack"... that two x med IV = 1 x med VI. From memory I recall the med VI has a +110 bonus. Is that a cap? (e.g. you can't stack 2 x med VI's and get higher than 110?
Statement: taking into account the postings of everyone... is there a DE on Scylla that could make me an Adv.R2 as mentioned above?
