Thread: Suggestion instead of Droid Certs

We all know that the probot was nerfed because of newbies using them to tank, and I know I was annoyed to find the CHs can now give anyone a CL15 pet which is more powerful than any droid we can make.
I know that droid certs are going to cause major problems if combat certs are only available to either DEs or combat classes, not everyone has the patience to become a DE and not everyone wants (or can afford) to spend skill points on weapon skills, but still need to be able to survive a trip to their harvestors or factories.
Here's a simple idea for droid usage, all droids already have a CL rating, we simply limit the max CL of droid you can call (or droids if we ever get multiples) just like CHs are limited to a maximum CL of creatures, make the powerful Combat droids high CL and then newbies wont be able to call one.
Now how would you gain CL ability for drawing droids, simple, you take the number of skill points you've currently used and divide by 5, so a newbie just starting has a max CL of 3 (15 points used), if you've used all your skill points you'll get a max CL of 50, I know that a newbie could get all six base skills and have a max CL of 18, so make a probot CL 25 (and give it appropriate stats for this level), they would need to use 125 skill points, by which time they aren't a newbie (that's 35 extra points above all six base skills learnt), this also leaves 25 levels for more advanced combat droids (more if the skill points are ever increased), since most DEs will use all their points anyway Master DEs will be able to call these more advanced droids.
I haven't checked the CL of an MSE droid, but if it is 3 or less then any player will be able to own a droid of their own from the start, but not just anyone will be able to own a high powered combat droid.
Of course if they're going to do this they first need to bring droid death in line with current CH pets, I don't mind if they can be DBd, I do mind the fact that one incap and they're dead forever.
Also it would be nice if the DZ70 was brought back to the levels it was during Beta. (I wasn't in, but I've heard it was nerfed at release)
