Thread: Loosing my grip on any sense of hope, DE or otherwise.

As the topic says, I'm really loosing hope. Even ignoring all of the bugs and terrible balancing among professions, I'm starting to see the bottom of the cliff I musta walked offa at some point. Oh yeah, and the ground has razor sharp rocks right where it seems I'll hit.

The first clue should have been back when the devs didn't know the difference between a swoop and speederbike. Lotsa people make that mistake I will admit, however as a developer you are supposed to know such things and research them. Another hint woulda been holocrons actually. The fact that they could not manage something interesting and dynamic, as they had said they had done, should have set off a warning siren in my brain but only gave me a mild discomfort. On forward we go, people exploiting player cities to save or destroy bases and a GCW that is totally up-side-down starts getting me nervous along with the empty promises of the devs to fix things. More and more things until we reach our current time. They now have reached unheard of levels of mistakes, managing 3 all at once suddenly and admitting to none of them. The smallest and most recent was the geonosian bio reasearch dungeon on yavin 4. Thier home planet was within spitting distance of tatooine and I beleive lok and they put it on yavin 4? Not only that, but bio-engineering? They made droids and that was almost the only thing they did. They were not a bio-tech type of race, it wasn't thier style. Next up the Jedi system. They managed to screw it up pretty good before, but now they parade that they are removing permadeath. Within weeks the servers will be over-run with Jedi, making any attempt at immersing yorself in the current Imperial time period hopeless. If they want that many Jedi they should move the timeline either forwards or backwards, but it most definately should not be at this point. Finally, us, the DEs. I do not need to tell you the things that are going on, nor the fact that we are not being listened to. Indeed, on all 3 of the current issues there has been no communication showing they care at all. I will grant most people will like the Jedi change, but there are some things as game developers, you gotta put your foot down on and at the front is the story. Instead they have butchered it completely. This is not longer star wars, even with my best efforts I can no longer immerse myself in it. There is so much that is obviously flawed that the only thing I can truely beleive this is is simply a test bed for Everquest 2. It is sad, but tell me that you, my fellow DEs, cannot see it. The game is reachign the point of no return, indeed it may have passed it already.

The ground is getting so close now....

Hillslayer... The Geonoshans ARE a biotech race according to all the lore. The droid foundries in Ep2 are Trade Fereration nor Geonoshan.

Actually, they aren't.

An insectoid species divided into castes, the Geonosians are native to the harsh rocky world of Geonosis. Geonosians construct immense, organic-looking spires within which reside their hive colonies.

There are two main types of Geonosians: the wingless drones that mostly work as laborers, and the winged aristocrat, which includes royal warriors serving as scouts and providing security to the hive. All Geonosians have a hard, chitinous exoskeleton, elongated faces, multi-jointed limbs, and speak in a strange clicking language.

Though labeled "warriors," Geonosians do not have a standing military. They instead use their droid foundries to build armies for corporate interests wealthy enough to afford them -- entities such as the Trade Federation and the Techno Union. Despite relatively simple minds, the Geonosians are adept at mechanical construction, and are contractors to many of the galaxy's biggest manufacturing concerns. They are responsible for the construction of some of the largest feats of engineering ever witnessed.

The hardships of the native environment coupled with rigid structure codified in their caste society has fostered a barbaric side to the Geonosians. Their simple minds view brutal violence as entertainment, and Geonosians congregate in massive execution arenas to watch victims doomed to die by being subjected to savage creatures.

A harsh rocky world less than a parsec away from Tatooine, Geonosis is a ringed planet beyond the borders of the Galactic Republic. Its uninviting surface is marked by mesas and buttes, and barren stretches of parched desert hardpan. The rocks and sky are tinted in red, and the creatures that evolved on Geonosis are well equipped to survive in the harsh ecology.

The most advanced lifeform are the Geonosians, sentient insectoids that inhabit towering spire-hives. The Geonosians maintain large factories for the production of droids and weapons. Save for attending to clients that venture to the planet to place orders, the Geonosians typically keep to themselves.

The droid foundries and the planet's remote location made it an ideal base of operations for the Separatist movement that spread through the galaxy in the later years of the Republic. The Archduke of Geonosis, Poggle the Lesser, hosted an important meeting of the heads of the Confederacy of Independent Systems. The commerce barons in attendance pledged their mechanical military forces to Count Dooku, the charismatic leader of the Separatist movement. The Separatists were ready to wage war, but their plans were overheard by Obi-Wan Kenobi.

The Jedi was taken captive, though he managed to dispatch a distress call to the Jedi Council. With their forces spread throughout the galaxy in an effort to maintain the peace, the Jedi Council was only able to dispatch 200 of their ranks to Geonosis. Obi-Wan, meanwhile, was sentenced to death in a huge execution arena. He and his compatriots, Anakin Skywalker and Padmé Amidala, had to face down three terrible arena creatures before the Jedi reinforcements arrived.

While the Jedi could easily contend with the Geonosians, they had not counted on the sheer size of the droid army laying in wait. Scores of battle droids poured into the arena, slaying many Jedi. A scant few Jedi remained before even more reinforcements arrived -- in the form of the newly created Republic clone army. With the arrival of these forces, the first battle of what was to become known as the Clone Wars began on Geonosis. The Republic military, led by the Jedi, were able to drive the Separatists into retreat.

Few would have reason to visit Geonosis were it not for its massive droid foundries. The hard-working Geonosian dregs piece together advanced technology in the service of the Techno Union as well as other commerce guilds. Occupying one of the immense stalagmite spires, this particular droid factory is mostly automated, with immense conveyer belts and robot arms assembling mechanical pieces into finished combat automata. Thousands of battle droids, super battle droids, droidekas and other models are built from start to finish within the factory.

(No, I didn't one star you, attempted to fix your rating though. Your mistake is understandable with the latest Dev spoof.)
