Could I get some feedback from DEs on this idea?

I've seen a lot of threads trying to propose a cert system or something like it.

I've also seen that the Devs say that it will HAVE to take skill points to use droids above CL 10

So why not have it so that in order to take a droid out, you have to have skill points = to twice it's CL (if it's CL >10)

So, a CL 30 droid would eat up 60 SP while it's out.

A CL 100 droid would eat up 200 SP while it's out.

If they require another cap of some sort, make it in relation to Master badges:

0 Badges = CL 0-10

1 Badge = CL 11-20

2 Badges = CL 21-30

...

9 Badges = CL 91-100

10 Badges = CL 101-110

That way, to use a CL 110 droid, you'd have to have220 skill pointsopen and have 10 Mastery badges from other professions.

If you don't like the badge idea, drop it.

Just keep the CL x2 = SP thingy...

No headaches, no complex systems... Just droids.

For my take onseeing what the CL should be,I think that different modules should have CL ratings. So if I have a Battle Droid, it's CL 20 to start. A DE could make weapons modules like Carbine 1 or Cabine 6. Each module would have a CL modifier that could be experimented on to lower the CL it would raise the droid to (thus saving skill points). So, a Battle Droid with a Carbine 1 module might be CL 25, but a Battle Droid with a Cabine 6 module and a PSG Mk.III slot might be CL 73. Of course the owner of the droid would have to give items to it like giving clothes to a vendor, so aCarbine 6 module wouldn't equip a carbine, the owner would have to buy that DXR6 or E11 and drag-and-drop.

Bump (until I get a response)...

It seems that I can get a 2-star rating, but no explanation why...

Actually, your plan isn't a bad one. If I were designing this game from scratch, I might consider an idea such as yours for droid usage. But unfortunately, that's not the way SWG is designed. Here, all skills and abilities are based on two things: earning experience, and spending that exp, plus some skill points, to improve your
skills/abilities. This iscore to the game system and isn't going to change. While it does limit the creativity in solving some problems (the droid "problem" being a prime example), I think it's a good thing that all professions/characters share a common framework for how they progress/advance.

P.S. I 4-starred your post to counteract a 1-star
