I think its time you started looking into the posters who are for and against the DH profession.

Draskh you say you promote the idea of a DH profession but you also say you will do your best to voice the concerns and suggestions of the DE community...

The DE community has seen a large increase in posters of late - i did a little research into these posters and found that some of the more vocal posters who are also promoting the DH idea are infact reformed CHer's.

Just do a search for posts by people who reply and list all previous posts from them.

Ihave a bad feeling that people are jumping onto the DH bandwagon with the hope of creating yet another "uber" profession like the CH when if first came out.

Lets stop looking at creating a new profession from our products and concentraiting on making our products more user friendly - lets build up the DE profession instead of creating one that is overpowered and will be nerfed into insignificance.

I noticed that as well. There certainly ARE a few 'regulars', true Droid Engineers who have my respect and admiration, who also support Droid Handling. However, it seems that once the dam broke, a lot of new faces popped out of the woodwork supporting the idea. I'm quite certain that many of these are simply folks who want better combat droids, aren't offended the way many Droid Engineers are by the idea of the DH profession, and come here to express that. The real question certainly falls down to how strongly each person's opinion is considered.

I don't wish to be elitist about this, and the player base as a whole probably should have some say... But we, the few, have been putting up with a badly broken profession for a LONG time, and we're the folks with staying power who really, really love our droids, and I'd like to know our voice is being heard.

I observed this as well.

But it doesn't matter now, their minds are made up.

i started playing in beta, and was turned away from DE because it didnt seem to offer enough out of its products. so i went armoursmith (the only reason being that no one in my PA was going AS). recently i started a second account, so i could have one combat and one crafting orientated characters. i went back to the idea of DE so i can head for what i wanted in the first place. well enough of MY history. i believe droids are a funimental part of star wars, almost as much as jedi's are.

the ONLY reason i see people want a droid handler profession is so they can be creature handlers with metalic critters, which are easier to BUY than to spend time building them up. people only went mad about droids when they mentioned new combat droids. THAT was the big mistake made! yes i believe new droids would be cool, but i think the way to go is to makedroids more useful, to fill roles that we see they did in the films. remember droids were popular before droidika's appeared.

the devs have done a wonderful job with droids, but need to build on this foundation. they could have gone all out combat droids to please those powermongers, but decided to make combat droids a small part of the initial plans. they decided to make droids more crafter friendly. ok, it was a good idea and did work for a while. the one idea they did make that is the way to go, in my opinion, is with MODULES. great idea, it leaves the droid chasis's we see in the films and allows us to customise our droids to the users needs! the only failure here is the LACK of modules. yes i have heard they are making combat modules, but is that all???? where are the other modules that could and WOULD work if we are given them? where are the survey modules to allow surveyors better equipment than a hand held surveyor tool? i could name a whole list of modules that droid engineers would LOVE to see. i also thinkthat by allowing everyone to learn all languages so quickly was a mistake! they should have made the language system more like EQ, that way protocol droids would have a purpose.

MODULES is the way to go. expand the number we can make, and you expand the different configurations possible, and the more customised a droid feels.

DEVS please consider this simple idea rather than the hassle of making a new profession that will be the downfall of droid engineers

I think your concern is valid. If former or current MCH's are pro DH it is because we are not what we used to be. Not even close. But as a MCH I was for the last 'reallignment' of our profession. Far too many dabblers going 4,4,0,0. However with this introduction of DH...well it just feels like the powers that be decided they made a mistake with CH. Like we shouldn't be here at all.

I for one am against the DH proposal beacause:

1) Nerf #4 for CH's

2) DE's never asked for it

I was a DE as my first elite proffesion. Then became a Master Creature Handler for awhile (which was really fun), now i'm back to DE and almost to MDE.

I am against Droid Handlers.

Despite the fact that I am against DH, I'd just like to comment on your post.

Ex-MCH may be supporting DH because they are used to that style of play (Lots of pets) or because they always wished thier animal pets were droid but never had the option of the same type of chracter just droid based.

Ive not hidden the fact i am a CH. Ive not hidden the fact that i am in favor of DH. I have not hidden the fact that it is my belief once you offer Combat Skills to crafters based on the argument if we make a weapon we should be able to use it, then you open the floodgates for every weapon crafting profession to expect the same (fairness and balance). Armorsmiths make utility items and can wear it as well. So do tailors. Weaponsmiths do not use flamethrower without going Commando and BE's do not use pets without going CH. If they cert Droids will Pets get Certed next. Then Flamethrower. Pick a weapon.

Things i see stated that i agree with and do understand
Everyone should have bots (as long as these bots are Utility or gained in DH profession i agree).
DE's current bots need fixed.
DE's need more utility Droid modules. (we want the same for pets so we atleast understand it).

Thing i see stated that i disagree with:
DH=CH in a different cover. This argument would be the same as pistol v carbineer. So lets make one mold or Cert everyone (using DE thinking here).
Apparently DE's believe Droids will tank and do connect damage to compare them to pets.
Brawlers are just different TKA, Pikeman and swordsman, BH and commando. If you are going to be true reductionist atleast reduce them all. Artisan=DE both build just different structures.
CH's just deficate out free pets with no effort or use of resources to maintain and take care of them.
CH's pets are the most uber in the game and no CH ever buys from a BE.

Loathe CH's on your time. I came here to find out more info on DH and possibly DE. Mission grinding gets as old as button pushing. The game has no content and profession changing is the only mildy interesting thing left in the game. Ive yet to see any truth to one SWG planet is equal to one EQ server prior to the POK expansion. I have every right to defend something as you have every right to not want it. But noone has as of yet convinced me that this will not affect CH. A profession i will keep even if i dabble DE/DH.

I want someone to tell me how this will not allow BE to use the same argument "we make it we should use it" to become effectively CH. Then when you cannot do that tell me how Droid Certs will not magically convert pets to Pet Certs. And when you cannot do that, maybe just maybe you will see that a DH profession with all combat skills as a prerequisite is the only thing to save your profession if i want to fight with droids and want to keep CH as well. Otherwise i become a BE/DE because CH/DH are non-existant.

well i for my self have been playing CH myslef, but now im mainly playing DE and dont care much bout CH.

just beacause i dont say nonono to everything doesnt mean i want CH DH to be the same.

i supported DEs getting the combat abilitys aswell as i now support DH. i prefer getting on with changes anyway i would like to be a DE who controlls his Droids but as the community doesnt want that i support the idea of the split of this profession to get the changes in the best possible solution that hasent been ranted down until now.

and i can see that there are many posters that cryed no we dont want combat abilitys in DE that are now crying no combatablilitys should be in the DE tree and no DH...

i support the advance and make ideas or critism to get the best solution out of the current plan and not just like90% of the posters that just say no.
