I know that there has been a swoon of info the last few weeks regarding the upcoming "droid invasion"
I offer two points that I urge you to keep in mind no matter your decision on the highly unpopular Droid Handler profession.
1. Offering Droid handling as a "skill" (not a profession) will help balance combat across combat & non professions (and most importantly benefit Master professions) and will facilitate much improved Star Wars Continuity.
You have a vocal minority of people who do not want to diminish the value of the creature handler any further. The fact is, they are scared that the CH's vital importance will diminish to what it should be... neglegable to those that do not require "scout" as their base profession. They are offering strong arguments and attempting to skew perception for the sake of salvaging their hard earned work.
2. In Star wars Galaxies (the game) the most successful merchant professions (and ultimately what is necessary for Droid Engineers long term survival) are those that directly relate to the GCW and combat.
The Droid engineer community's idealism is its greatest strength (They are loyal fans and have been victims of a flawed profession for some time and their sticktoitiveness is to be nothing but admired)
This very idealism is their greatest adversary in this instance.
There isONE REASON DE's are not jumping on board with a DE skill tree reamp.DE's have not been privvy to the above outlook (point #2) because a majority of their "unique" customer base (myself included)are nosgalgic people wanting to "get droids in the game IN SPITE of their uselessness". The DE
idealistic *Droids for Eeryone* view should be a cursory secondary attribute to their professions long termsurvival. The Irony is that this decision (the Droid Handler decisoion) hold the keys to the very survival of this game...
making Star Wars feel like Star Wars.
