Thread: OH MY GOD YOU HAVE TO BE KIDDING ME!? NEXT PROFESSION TO CHANGE, Sheesh!
Okay, I stuck with DE, I toughed it out. You DEV's told us they'd get better, they'd get more useful, they'd start being real and reflect the Star Wars Mythos!
You're a bunch of liars!
I'm sorry, I don't mean to sound like a jerk or anything, but flat out, you are! I can't imagine how many of us have just toughed it out with X amount of skill points invested in this USELESS profession, waiting for the moment that you've promised would finally deliver us from hell into a good time!
You said you'd make changes, but the changes you propose SUCK! No, you're not adding to the Droid Engineer class by suggesting a new Droid Handler profession. DROID HANDLER!? MY GOD PEOPLE DO YOU EVEN -THINK- about what you're talking about? How does that make -ANY- sense?
Droids don't need to be HANDLED, they need to be built and used, unfortunately only the being built part works, you've done a good job of making sure nobody wants to use them.
You say we're top priority and yet we're not getting any real love until sometime in JULY!? No thanks, not sticking with this profession any longer. I've hung on for about as long as I can stand to. Since the moment I started playing this game I wanted to use droids and build them, but there's just no purpose to it, and you're not making it any better.
So, in closing..
Shame on you for yanking us all around, shame on you for lying to us, shame on you for absolutely defiling one of the most beloved things about star-wars.
Have you ever thought that it's easier to become a Jedi than a useful droid engineer? Heh, good heavens. My heart aches for this profession, and for those that continue to tough it out. I hope something actually improves, but don't count on it.
Okay, y'kno what? I should at least be constructive in my outage right?
Here's my suggestion, not that I believe that anyone is actually being listened to on these forums, but what the heck.
First off, ditch the droid handler Idea, it should've been ditched since the moment the ill conceived concept was hatched.
Secondly, certification should be simple for using advanced combat droids. Mirror creature handler, everyone in the game can use level ten droids. At novice DE, make it so you can use a level 15, then take the third from the left skill tree (forgot the name) andthat's where you put the future level ups, after all that tree is just experimentation and assembly anyhow, why not throw the Droid Use +10 or whatever thing there if you want to implement it? From there you just increase the number in whatever incriments you want up to the master DE slot where it hits the ceiling. Easy as pie.
Now this at least would make us DE's happy, but to be true to the genre you have to allow everyone to use droids at whatever level. I understand that people can't use pets higher than level ten. It's one thing to have a dog, an entirely different to have a tiger. However droids don't need to be tamed or trained, just built and used. THey're like cd players, universally understood and operated.
So to be TRUE to the genre, DE's should be able to build them, and EVERYONE should be able to use them, maybe giving DE the perk of being able to have 2 out at once or something like that, or to be able to use 1 kind of droid that others can't, THAT is how it should be.

This would not work. This would mean everyone would become DE, like the tons of CH out in the world. I hate seeing CH every time I turn around. It makes me sick. You need to keep DE an elite profession. I have a wonderful alternative for this Certification stuff. It would be good because it means ANYONE can use them if they want to, but it also takes SOME TIME and EFFORT to have the best ones:

Welcome to SWG Beta.
If you are going to create a Droid Handler profession, please bring back the Miner profession.

You go! I'm with ya! Hey I hear they're improving the Chef profession. Imagine that, the Chef.
