Thread: Problem with Droid Command Chip
No need to put it in your datapad.
Just open the program droid radial menu, and when your normal droid commands are listed, at the bottom you will see a list of the commands you have on chips.
But remember that once you program it into the droid, the chip itself is destroyed, so make sure you put it into the droid you plan on using.
(I still carry my Cert1 R4 for nostalgia, but have a Cert4 R5 I use. Cert 6 R2 is on order. hee hee)
Im not definite on this but I think you do this via the datapad control for the droid to bring up the astromech command screen and then select the command on the data chip. You can tell if its the right one because it will tell you that its a one shot burn into the droid/computer.
Also, not sure again but you may be able to do this by just opening the data storage compartment of the droid and dragging it to it from your inventory.
Sorry I couldn't be as sure on this but been a while since I last gained a droid ability and opened that command screen.

The first scenario is correct. I'm pretty sure the dragging and dropping into its data storage won't work.

hehe , thanks .. was wondering that .. never tried it myself but have opened it before and seen the chips in there so was seeing a possibility of doing it that way.. oh well *shrugs*
Thanks, it worked well. I was reading an old FAQ on the DE forum.

Thanks for the answers. It's on thedroid's radial menu under Program.
The FAQ is wrong here:

Thanks, I was having the same problem. Just another question ... it looks like I could have programmed my astromech droid even without the ready chips. Did I just spend a bunch of credits on ready chips I don't even need?
You know, I think I just answered my own question. The ready chips are so you can buy abilities you have not gotten in your skill tree. So I just went out and bought four ready chips for abilities I already had. Ah well, I'll sell them.
