I'm just starting to stack up on combat droids, and I'm wondering if there's any point in building Probots. I've read there is some sort of bug where their damage is reduced, which wouldn't make them very reliable.
Is the best thing to do just stick with R3's?

I buy probots as combat droids just because they are the only droid that feels like it should be involved in combat.

They have a good place in a ranged support role, but they are not good as tanks. Keep them out of melee and generally they work fine.

I have installed 110 med modules into some of my probots, along with combat and storage module. I think there are lots of peeps out there with medical skills in their template, and the fact that the probot floats and can get around everone quick and easy makes them a good seller for me. I think you might be referring to the armor reduction ?bug? that reduces a droids armor rating after the 1st call.

There was a bug which I think is now fixed where Probots would go into melee combat rather than use their ranged attackes....

Umm for me that bug still exists. My probot will sometimes stay ranged but mostly it charges in. And everytime I try and use range command droid says "ranged attack turned off.
Funny enough my R3 has a range command too and when i bark it they say range attack turned on.

My level 30probots are doing around 35-40 damage to level 5 animals, so there sure seems to be a continuing problem. I'm going to try other droids to see if moving to a melee combat droid (as was suggested elsewhere) will provide a reasonable amount of damage.
Oh, and my CSR request about that was deleted with no comment.
