ya there seems to be a problem with this. you can customize the protocols during the crafting process,
but after that the customization seems to be bugged. i think this has been brought up before but i'm not
sure if the DEVs know about it....

I know I put it on a very short list of P8 issues (since chassis customization was supposed to happen this publish).

You can still do the final deed, so if this is for furniture/display...just make the final deed and you'll have the coloring options.

yeah. i seem to remember it working for the chassis on the day publish 8 went live, but it appears to be only for the final deed now. maybe it was always that way and i just remembered incorrectly.

another thing worth noting: you can't customize the color of the protocol with the droid customization tool once it has been readied either. a bug, but a small one.

I /bugged this too.

If you try to use the tool, you'll see: "a 3PO unit has no customization options" (or some such...)

Fortunately, the customized colors of the 3PO droids from creation don't actually fade away - made a silver protocol for the mayor of the Player City I'm in, and it retained its silver color after the customization lifespan expired. (And he's happy with his permenantly silver droid)

Note that, for protocol droids that existed pre-Pub8, the customization tool still came up as it did prior to the patch, showing no color options.

I have another bug to report: the default color of my protocol DID suddenly dissappear for no reason last night. I got a message "the droids customization has completely faded away" when I pulled him out and he changed from black to silver. I don't think it was suppossed to fade away, because it was never"customized", and I never got any "the customization has faded a little bit more" messages previously. Something else went wrong that caused it to change color suddenly. When it happenned, I had switched back and forth between 2 or 3 different droids in rapid succession, had moved stuff between their storage compartments, and deleted one of them as well. Then I pulled out the protocol and his color changed. Of course, he was next on the list of droids to be deleted so I didn't care. /shrug. but it was a bug because he shouldn't have changed color like that.
