Got my musician droids the other night and was excited about trying them out.
The R3 with special effects modules worked great! I especially like the dancing jawas effect.
The second droid I requested was a musical module equiped3po. I know they can only hold 2 modules, but I liked the look of a 3po as a stage partner than a r2.
When the droid was first generated, it had the standard radial menu, meaning it did not have the talking droid programming interface. I worked with it for about an hour, trying different songs with the droid as backup and it worked great! It was awesome to hear two instruments playing a song, since I usually am solo in my cantina.
Then I stored and recalled the droid. NOW, it had the talking droid radial interface. I called the friend who had made the droid to come hear it. I started playing, and activated the playback just as I had before and the following happened every time I tried...
I start playing... you hear my intsrument
start playback module.... playback starts, but my sound stops
after a couple seconds... my music starts with the song intro like I was just starting a song, but the droid sound stops, although, it still has the notes floating off him like he is still playing.
I also tried starting the droid playback first, but my music starts and the playback stops.
Keep in mind, I used this droid before storing him for over an hour and he worked fine. I was not doing anything different after calling him out the second time.It seemed like he functioned like a normal droid at first, but storing him turned him into a talking droid and broke the module's function.
This all leads to a couple questions...
if these new module do not work in biped droids, why has this not been told the the droid engineers making them before they waste the resources?
Biped droids have been broke since day one... when are you going to make this an issue with the devs? Repair droids can't repair, talking droids can't be renamed, etc.
I know they do not want people to be able to call an army of fighting droids at the same time, cause that would imbalance combat, but Please explain to me why I cannot call my special effects droid and my music droid at the same time? Or even 2 music droids? or even a single comgat droid and a power droid? It isn't a problem for a master CH to call 2 rancors for a fight, but a master musician has to get by with a single member backup band?

At the risk of sounding like i'm shouting at you...
WE KNOW! Honestly, how can people assume we haven't reported these to the devs. We've been shouting at them every day for the last year about most of these issues.
FYI, and to make up for being grumpy
:
Repair Droids can now repair, but Surgical droids still can't hold Items. Conversing droids not being able to be named, is a long hard battle which TK tells the devs about every single day but then the devs disappear down a black hole/keel over with brain explosions/have their memory erased and we have to start again the next day.
Any new issues (like your musician problem!) are handy to know so we can report them, but most of the time we are banging our head against the devs brick wall.

Oh, and we're only allowed one droid out because the devs say so. Not matter how much we ask for it. Ever.
(Even us MDE's can only have one - we can't even demo half the stuff we can make)

problem solved... music droids must be grouped to operate... pass that on to your customers.
Odd that it worked just fine ungrouped right after I generated it from the deed until I stored it the first time.
on a side note, special effects droids DO NOT have to be grouped to work.

yes a playback droid has to be grouped with you to operate right way, plus it uses action from HAm instead of only battery power like the effects do. they even can do flourishes which is very great, BUT u need to use bandflourish command for them to do it.
so a C3PO is NOT best choice since its HAM sucks badly, if u wish a humanoid playback droid get a LE ![]()
guess thats about it, i got no problems ever with playback droids, they work simply fine. but they use HAM, so a 50HP droid is a no go for playback modules ![]()
