Thread: Tips on getting started pls.
First off welcome. Second read the boards. I did I became a lot smarter (I think). Next you must start out as a Artisan, which you should master, if you wish to become a Master DE.
There isn't a real good combo for any of the Artisan classes. Most of us will be Master Artisan, Master DE, Master Merchant (Not all of us are all of those), but Most are atleast MA/MDE.
As for making money early I could be found in Moenia, Naboo. They have a great Artisan Terminal I would run missions from Moenia to Deja Peak. I would make +2k each trip (2 missions for over 1k each) and I would get crafting xp but not very much.
I will tell you not everybody takes the same path to level up. I would also try everything. You may think you have a specific path planned out in your mind, but then you may find out you are making thousands upon thousands of the same darn thing. Then you realize it is more fun to "crack down" on your friends by being an Imperial Commando, blasting things away with your Launcher Pistol or Heavy Acid Rifle.
First, you are gonna need a steady income. I did crafting missions on Correllia-Tyrena has missions for 1.5k each, all to Verni Island, which is a short hop on a shuttle, if you get the timing right for shuttles you can make about 3k every 5-10 mins. That can keep you in cash until you get a steady income (remember on the artisan terminal to select the 'Crafting' mission box on the mission selection screen, and keep refreshing the list of missions untilyou have 2 missions for 1.2-1.5k each). While waiting for shuttles on missions you can grind up Surveying for sampling for anything thats in a fairly good concentration (50%+). This means the time you spend waiting around for shuttles is'nt entirely wasted, and also gives you some free resources to grind with.
As you are definately going to need master artisan if you want to be a fairly self sufficent DE (alot of components in Droid Construction need MA parts, in fact DE is the worst crafting profession for being dependant on another) I recommend you get that first. It also gives you things you can sell for quite a bit to help you finance your DE grind (Vehicles, Weapon Powerups, personal harvestersetc), and also gives you the ability to set up a vendor to sell your MA wares.
While grindingMA start stocking up on 2 resources - Fibreplast & Steel. You are gonna need these in hugh amounts to grind up to Master DE (probably need 1 Mill+ of each).Grind up Surveywhile waiting for shuttlesand work on levelling up Engineering first(uses different XP to Survey) and when you've got the cash go buy some BER4 Personal harvesters (chemical & Mineral),a BER 8 Wind Generator and a cheap X34 - mining without transport is a drag
. If you're lucky, you can usually find harvesters for under 5k each & sometimes alot less (I sell em for 1k each on my vendor ) and X34s you can find for as little as 10k.
Start mining for Fibreplast & steel as soon as possible, plus someNon Ferrous (Copper/Aluminium etc ) & Oreas well (to grind up MA with). Survey IV means its alot easier to find high concentrations (you want 70%+ at least) of resources and with 10 Personal Harvesters you can mine a fair amount of resources, although you'll have to keep running missions to keep them maintained.
The grind upto MA can get very boring, so make yourselfa nice CDEF wep and go kill things around Tyrena (start with Durni and Butterflies) to get some combat skill - getting scout while you have the skill points to spare is useful too, as you can harvest Hide & Bone, which is useful to make backpacks and clothes that can sell quite nicely on the Bazaar.
Once you're MA, grind up to Novice DE. Start grinding DE making MSE Droids, level up the Blueprint Tree until you can make Advanced Frames (its Blueprints II I think). Grind these upto MDE. If you have enough resources you can probably make MDE in a few days, but you probably won't have enough.
Good Luck ![]()
