Thread: Droid Engineer...Profits or Pain?
I make about 500k a night.
The armoursmith in our mall make about 2-3 million each night. So there is no doubt that being a DE wont make you "silly" rich but you can make a decent living on it. I have opened up two more vendors in other malls so mabe business will pick up a bit.
I have posted this in other threads but will repeat myself just for the heck of it. Weaponsmiths and Armorsmiths, in general, can make the most money in this game (crafting). It is very possible to be a millionaire selling droids but it all depends on how much you market your shop. My shop has been open for a little over a month and i currently have 1.9 mil in the bank.
Personally, i think it is easier to be a DE than an Armorsmith. all DE requires is inorganic components which you can pull up with harvesters. I am currently grinding armorsmith and it is very difficult for me to find cheap bulk hide. Since I only have novice scout getting my own hide is a chore.
Anyways, it is very possible to make money as a DE. You wont make as much as selling weapons, armor, or even resources but if you like the concept of making droids then do it. If you just want to make cash do armorsmithing.
You can make decent credtis off of droids, but be prepared for the resource juggling and hoarding it requires. If you make crap droids, you will have crap sales. You need to watch for all the great spawns of good-great resources so you can build up a decent inventory of high quality products.
Be warned though, the initial droid craze has died down quite a bit. I still sell several a day, but it is a far cry from what it was after the patch was first put out.
As a poster said above, our problem is a droid will last forever. Weapons, armor, clothes and food wear out or get consumed.
House and Harvesters don't decay either.
As for me, profit, but far less than other crafting prof.

Without Droid Decay, we'll never be uber-rich...
After the Droid publishes I sold 10-20 droids a day easy - about 50k average sale (with batteries/droidstims and custom kits).
Now it has settled down to about 1 or 2 droids a day.
I don't advertise much, just my sig and adv 3 on the map. I consider myself pretty well known on Intrepidtoo, so that helps some. I don't really do custom orders though, as I rarely have the time. I do keep 40-100 non-BH droids stocked at all times tho, covering a variety of popular configurations and chasis styles.
I supplement my income reselling foods and running a resource mining operation of about 50-60 harvs. Altho the resource markets have tanked considerably now too.
The economy is slowing WAY DOWN for me, and a lot of people I know on Intrepid.
It's all back to the non-decay of droids again, but the mad sales at the publish were nice. Even a simple solution of X (some high number) of battery charges would take away a point of droid vitality would be logical.
