I am sorry to be persistant about this, but may I make a suggestion?

Asplayingsuch a toonmyself, I think theBounty Hunter should beyour "droid handler" profession (in addition to allowing DEs to have the same droid-handling capabilities.) Have a customer base for your new combat droids!

Reason being?

It is currently a necessity for Bounty Hunters to become Creature Handlers in order for them to take down their bounties. In addition, due to a lack of defensive capabilities and skill-points with which to buy medical skills they are further dependant on pets to take down their marks.

What does this all mean? The elite profession that requires 217 skill points to master (Bounty Hunter)is not being mastered for the above mentioned reasons. If the necessity of being a CH were taken out of the picture then more points would be free for the BH to become a more well-rounded class in medical and defensive skills. It also thematically makes sense for the Bounty Hunters, as solo professionals, to rely on technology to take care of business (as can be backed up by their current reliance on tech for tracking purposes and the very existence of their "Investigation" skill branch.)

Is this that much to ask? Will it make Bounty Hunters "uber" or undermine the DE profession? I don't think so, as among the elite combat classes Commandos, Rifleman, Carbiniers, and Pistoleers still have the skill points to spare on Creature Handling and yes, even Droid Engineering. If balance is a concern, allow only Master Bounty Hunters to be able to use the combat droids that DEs get to use otherwise.

Please don't over-look the fact that, as Droid Engineers, youonly have tospend a minimum of 92 skill points in order to master the profession. That leaves 158 skill points to spend oncombatprofessions or even Creature Handling. Those who claim they are not powerful enough fail to see that if they are weak in combat areas, it is only because they have mispent their skill points. For those who feel that way, remember if you want to be a master crafter in more thanone or two areas, of course your combat abilities are going to be impaired. That's the price you pay, but in return you have the capability to make more money than most combat classes can ever dream toobtain.

Try to think fairly. And again

My two cents,

Firstly, if BH marks are too tough to take out solo, I believe this is a game design error, and marks probably need to be made easier, if not making BH's more powerful in their combat skills. A BH should not have to employ help (other than for tracking purposes), be it pets or droids to be able to take down their targets.

Secondly, it is my personal opinion that BH should be the most powerful combat class, if only because it is the hardest/most time consuming elite profession to master. But this should be accomplished by making BH better solo fighters, not giving them fighting companions, be it droids or pets, or whatever.

Thirdly, there are many DEs that want to be primarily crafters, not Droid Handlers. I personally believe that combat droids should be available to all, with a basic certification system based on professions mastered and gained. This way newbies that happen to come along a good bit of cash, will not be able to own droids as powerful as the greatest Master (Insert Profession Here). If this were to be the case, Master BH would get access to the most powerful droids, as it takes two master novice professions to even get to novice BH.
